Treu, that is a MUST! A ship with radar-screen on the bridge, but not even a scanner??? Neh.

WE NEED RADAR-SCANNERS! ;D

And offcourse they need to turn as well! ;)

radar scanners was one of the details i missed most in the 2006 version so i can not understand why they didn't put it on all ships on ss08 , Radar scanners is a MUST

All ocean-going vessels operate off sonar, you'd think they would have added it in 08!

Most ocean going ships will have SoNaR, but not all.

I questioned this once on a large passenger vessel and was told that since they used recognised shipping channels with known depths that it wasn't quite as important as some people assumed.

I don't doubt that most/all new builds are fitted as standard, but this is only quite recent on passenger ships.

Having SoNaR would be nice though for anything from fishing boats to cable layers etc

I'm sure one of the boats in Bottmans video showed a turning RaDAR??? Was it not the pilot boat?

Yes, the Arie Visser (and the pilot boat) do have turning radars. I don't know about the other ships actually...

By Sonar do you mean Echo-sounders for depth? Because sonar is the submarine equipment equivalent to radar, using sound rather than radio waves.

Well, a radar is among the most important stuff onboard a ship (at the bridge) so it really surprises me that SS08 don´t have it implented! With ARPA radar, it is very easy to calculate the predicted track for example.

The patrol boat has a radar spinning. (Two actually)

Do do the Rescue and pilot boat. I don't know about the others.
