Been looking at the Solstice for the past month or so. Gorgeous ship. She has been doing quite a bit of sitting here. Kudos to the engineers at Meyer Werft for finishing her WAY ahead of schedule. Her first scheduled cruise from Port Everglades was supposed to be November 23, 2008, but she is doing some short inaugural cruises in the interim. Ship has real grass on the top deck and a Corning Glass Museum glass blowing exhibition. I also got my first look at the Independence of the Seas yesterday. Much better looking than the standard Voyager class.

We are looking forward to welcoming the Oasis of the Seas in 2009. Port Everglades will have both Genesis class ships, they will contribute 2.1 million annual passengers...by themselves.

Here is a local link about the Independence being here yesterday with a brief glimpse of the Solstice.

I think the best looking cruise ship at the moment is the Freedom class. They are beautiful, nicely rounded and not too boxy.
