It seems like all truely good boating stories come from the ramp, I got just about the best one today.
In the small hours of the morning my boat and SUV pulled in to the boat ramp parking lot. As soon as I rounded the corner I could see a mob of large trucks, police cars, and every other kind of road vehicle down near the water line. I got out of the truck to see what was going on at this boat ramp that I back my boat out of every week. Once I got to the ramp I could see that there were two extreemly large tow trucks sitting in the ramp. I talked to a police officer (Good Sence of humer) and when I asked him what was going on he replied "Well, we're tryn' to get them cars out from the bottom of the lake." I had no idea what the heck he was talking about so I looked porplexed. Officer-"We hav' to come on down here every month or so to see if there are any more cars, and sure enough we look and theres two or three. Chances are if you backed your boat out of here in the last two weeks or so you'll have almost hit one of the two cars that are in there now."
It turns out that the week before some one just drove their large SUV into the lake after being chased be the police. (They were pulled from the car alive.) They still have no idea where the other one came from. Some possible reasons the officer gave where; Presute, Insurance, junkers.
When I came back later around noon when they said they would be done I was told by the same officer that they had retrived the first car and when they tried to pull on the second one, They broke off the tire and half an axle. So they went working into the night and I never went boating.
Wow!
