SEATTLE - The Washington state ferry system says the Elwha has lost power in the San Juan Islands. It's dead in the water near Shaw Island waiting for a tug boat.
SpokesSpambot Susan Harris in Seattle says the ferry with 100 cars and 200 passengers on board is in no danger.
She says it will be towed to Anacortes where the ferry system expects an engine problem to be repaired by Wednesday afternoon.
Three other ferries remain on San Juan Island routes, but four Wednesday morning sailings were canceled because of the Elwha problem.
The Elwha lost power after leaving Shaw Island about 8 a.m. for Anacortes.
