Transfer of copy of ss2008.
« on: July 22, 2008, 18:42:33 »

I am giving my copy of SS2008 with disk and documents and receipt to my nephew. I have removed the licence key from my profile on this site. I am uninstalling it from my PC.
Anything else I need know or do?

Hiya BrianG :)

Your licence key/s appear to be still registered, because you have the icons below your profile name ;)

Have you made sure to unregister all your Ship Sim 2008 licence key/s?

Regards.

I only had one key.
Maybe the icons showed till I exited the message. I attach a screen print of my profile as it is now. I saw the key disappear at the time I 'removed' it.

Thanks for the quick response. My nephew is a yacht officer and is in Nice at the moment.

I've never unregistered any of my keys, so I don't know exactly how it would work to be honest :-[

I can't really test it either, because I would still have full forum access ;)

Do you still have access to the restricted areas (Tech support, Feature Requests, Missions)?

Hi,

I still have access to technical support

SS2008>Tech support
shows the list of topics.

I have uninstalled ship simulator now so I cannot alter the access internet option.

THe Ship Simulator 'uninstall' did not work possibly because I had directly deleted some files which I thought were independent. I had to uninstall using "control panel>add/remove programs".

My key does not show on my profile anymore.

How do I remove my profile now if it is necessary?

Hiya BrianG :)

I would've thought that your access would have been removed, unless something has not quite worked correctly :-\

You could try registering your key again, then unregister it, just to see if that works.  If it doesn't, I can contact an Administrator, to address this problem, or you can choose to 'Delete' your account (from your forum profile page).  Deleting your account is permanent, and cannot be undone, but you can re-register with a new account if you want to.  It's really up to you how you want to proceed :)

Regards.

Hi Carl,

Sounds simplest to delete my account and reregister if necessary later.
Looking at the profile page and account related settings page I can't see a way of deleting my account, can you point it out please?

Sure ;)

It should be right at the bottom of the profile page, on the left-hand panel :)

Hi Carl,

Sorry to be a pain.

When I click on 'Profile' in the headings I get my profile  'Summary' page as attached to my earlier message. On the left is a frame with a list of profile detail pages. All these pages have other info about the profile and the same frame on the left . I cannot see an option to delete the profile at the bottom of any of them.

I suspect I am misunderstanding. Perhaps you could attach a  'printscreen' picture to your reply focussing on the option to delete the profile.

Regards

You're never a pain Brian :)

You may have different options than I have, but here is where you should see it (see attached).  Image has been edited slightly ;)

Hi Carl,

Yes, I do not have that option. Perhaps you have it as a moderator. Please could you delete it for me. Thanks.

Hiya Brian :)

I can't do that with your account, only my own ;)

I will contact an Administrator for you, and see if we can get you unregistered (preferable option really), or have your account deleted :)

Regards.
