Shane,

First off welcome to Ship Simulator and welcome to the forums. To answer your first question, no, you cannot go anywhere in the world in Ship Simulator 2008. Instead, there are a number of different ports and open ocean environments to explore. The game comes with default missions and you can also download other players missions. In free roam, you can set waypoints in the environment as a sort of mission or to get to a certain area. You cannot download more ships freely, but, the Ship Simulator 2008: New Horizons add on was recently released and can alos be bought from the Ship Simulator website: www.shipsim.com.

If you have any more questions I'm sure somebody will answer them :)

Once again welcome to the forums.

Kind Regards,

Hiya Shane6 and welcome to the forum :)

In addition to the information provided already by Dan and TJK, the best place to check for Ship Simulator information, is the FAQ's and Announcements board:

http://www.shipsim.com/ShipSimForum/index.php/board,1.0.html

The search function is also a very useful tool:

Welcome to the forum Shane6,
I hope you buy the game soon,so that you can have all the fun that we experienced sofar.
Even when you not familiar with handling vessels, well, here are always people who will help you all the way.
I've seen you live near New-york,that harbour has been created, and i'm sure you would love to sail it virtualy, with the different vessels which are available for the moment.
Let us know when you are "active" as a player.
Greetings
Marc

Hey guys,
Tyhanks for all of your help so far. I am probably going to buy the game soon so that i will be able to start at the latest next week. I just have a few questions. Let say i port my vessel in New York. If I want will I be able to take a trip down to the Chesapeake Bay or is it not in the game? Another question.. Do you guys usually sail online together? If so i would love to know the details so I can come along.

Thanks,

Shane
