throttle and steering with Keys
« on: July 06, 2007, 18:28:36 »

Hello fellows!

Is this a bug, or have I missed something in the manual/settings?

More/less throttle with the keys for the engine controls (both engine simultaneously) works fine, but with the larger ships the engine control don´t stays in position.

The same with steering. With the larger ships, the steering don´t stays in position when using the keys.

Please comments!

Regards Nisse

Did you used the shift key additional to the arrow keys? Guess, that's the secret. Press the shift key and hold it - than you may control throttle and rudder as you requested with the arrow keys.

Well, using the SHIFT key together with the arrow just put the throttle in the maximum position with one step in the middle.

For the rudder, using the SHIFT key together with the arrow key, give you one step and full position.

I miss the the smal fine steps like in 2006 for both rudder and throttle.

Could this whish be put in the "FIX" list for improvements?

Which SHIFT key are you using? It should be the right SHIFT key. You can find all the keyboard commands in the manual.

Hello groennegaard!
Yes, I use the right and have read the manual.

A question to you: Do you have the fine steps in throttle and steering with the keys, like in 2006?

Yes I do. When I hold down the right SHIFT key I can set the throttle and rudder in whatever position I like - and they will stay there...

Hello "groennegaard" and others!

Just for technical information!

I Shift my graphic card from Gforce 5200 to Gforce N7600GS and then even the fine tuning of the rudder and throttle works perfect.

Nice saling and best regards/Nisse

Hi there,

I'm making my first steps inside 2008. Wow, great improvements in there !

Thanks for the answers given in this post : I was looking too how to steer with the keyboard while keeping the levers in position ... the shift key is magical !

however, the control keys doensn't seem to work while in "walkthrough" mode. Which isn't very handy when you want for example to manoeuver the P&O from the winglet ... Is there any way to do this ? or can you ma nouver from the winglets only with the mouse ?

other question, did someone found a way to have both common and separate controls ? I mean, it's very nice to be able to handle separatly left and right rudders. for manoeuvers. But when sailing, it would be great to have one keyboard control to handle both rudders simultaneously ...

Anyway, I still need to practice.

Have fun !

Denis
