SS08 - New Horizons
« on: March 27, 2008, 19:19:33 »

I bought New Horizons last night expecting a wonderful add-on for SS08 and I have to say that this package is a bit of a disappointment.  The scenery for Cornwall is excellent but the AI for Cornwall does in true VStep tradition crash into your vessel when trying manouvers which is so frustrating and annoying (putting it politely!) and the extra ships are really only the push boat and azimuth tug (the others I had from the v1.3 patch and the SS06 add-on).  Why did VStep decided to release a package with so many vessels from the SS06 add-on and the patch upgrades?

On a plus point I have to say the two new vessles are a welcome boost to the choice of ships to command but I have to say I feel VStep have let themselves down with this add-on.

On another note is there likely to be a patch to address the not very intelligent AI? and will VStep do a 5* add-on with vessles like the QM2 or Queen Victoria or an In-Cat Fast Speed Vessel in future?

well, no need to be frusturated. the old six ships have been updated. the two new ones were extras to be in the game.  so now its like twenty ships(not sure, don't have it yet)  so it's an update and add on. and AI ships don't try to sink you. they just move along, minding their own buisness. trying to manuver too close will cause damage to occur. just be careful where you manuver and you'll be fine. maybe future patches will fix some problems, but nothing is perfect. i hope this helps.

Hi guys,

It was pretty much known since the get-go that this addon would also include the 6 ships from the old addon.
If you allready had the old addon, then you did not even have to buy the whole pack but you could also have waited for the single ship and enviroment addons that are scheduled.

It's no letdown.. they announced the contents ages ago, so there's no reason for anyone to have been in the dark about that to be honest.

Remember, there's a very large group of customers that do not have the previous game or addon. To them, this is all new content. And in a way, it is also new content to the players that DID have the old addon, as a lot of changes have been made. Why would they leave those 6 ships behind that were in the SS06 addon. They offer variety and are a good addition to the stock SS08 fleet. Bringing those into SS08 was the logical step, really.  :)

You can use these new ships to do a lot of new jobs and create a lot of new missions, and that's what counts for the players that play this game as it is intended, as I see it. They may be in SS06 too.. but that's no use to us in SS08 to be honest. :)

Regards,
Fred

And I doubt we will get QM2 or Queen Victoria.
