I read also the topic and I think they were talking about the spelling mistakes in the names : "pasific star", "passific sun".

Well im have the right name i see these ships like everytime they are sailing away.

Oh, and P&O Cruises has nothing to do with P&O, they just have the same name

I was under the impression, that P&O do cruises in other countries apart from Britian.

If I am correct, they use to sail to Austrailia a lot

I'm not sure about there being no connection between the two. "Pacific Sun" is flying the P&O houseflag on her jackstaff. I feel sure therefore that the two companies are one and the same. So many cruise Companies are now owned by Carnival anyway so it is not surprising.

thats becuase ther not carnival ships Also yer they are linked together p&o and p&o cruises are the same company just they are more into the cargo business.

Technically speaking a "Liner" is any ship on a regular service, It can be a cargo liner, passenger liner or even a tanker, provided that she runs a regular service and is not a tramp which trades anywhere it can pick up a cargo of whatever, even passengers So to be really correct, a cruise ship is not a liner unless she does the same run on a regular basis.

Hi Shipaddict,
The term Liner is used very loosely nowadays, such that to most folks any big passenger ship is a liner. But as I said earlier it isn't 100% correct. But then so many words now have differing meanings than they did a while ago, a very simple example is the word "gay".
