PRIVATEER IV
« on: February 20, 2008, 16:08:56 »

Well I'm working on 4 boats right now. :o

And heres the one I'm the least far into at the moment...

It's a Whale Watch Boat that leaves out of a town near Boston MA
It's owned by the "7 SEAS WHALE  WATCH" company

I'll post model pictures in a while so let me know what ya think

Heya Ruler of Llamas!  :)

Looks like an interesting project, it's a nice boat. I guess someone needs to model a whale too then.  ;D

Are you planning to release these for VS or something, btw?

Great base you got there. Good job!

But err... I don't understand.. how can you test a vessel in VS before you do anything..
You at least have to create it first.. right??   :P  ;D

Do you make your hulls in sketchup, or do you use something like delftship?
I find that particular piece of software very handy. Not that I do much modeling or anything.. Too much other things to do unfortunatly, but I play around with it a bit now and again. And with GMAX a little bit.

You know what I mean... ::)
Before I do anything like putting it up for download for VS

This hull was done in sketchup

I do others in DEFTSHIP and GMAX but not much in GMAX because I can't find my REG key :P

Very nice.

I find hulls in Sketchup rather difficult. But as I said, I am a novice with very little practise.

GMAX doesn't need a key does it? I just grabbed a free one from their site some weeks ago. Or do you have a professional version? (I'm not up to date about all those programs either, as you notice)   ;D

I have NO CLUE what I have I just know that I need a key and I don't have a key. :P

And here is how I do my hulls...    It's a lot of work :(

Ah yeah, I had a go with something like that too. Indeed a lot of work. I didn't have the time to really get into it though.

I gave it up after a bit and used delftship indeed. (just some standard demo hull with an hour of personal editing)  :)

I have to work through lots of programs

No idea, I only used one or two Delftship hulls with the sketchup pro demo.  :)

As I said, I have only scratched the surface a bit and tried one or two things. Just so I know what it was like.  ;D

the hull and the bow, I find, is the easiest part of every ship. But I cannot realy explain how to do it... Kuz I dunno how you guys do your keels on your KetchUp ships.

The hull is the hardest part actually, but we're talking about real hulls here, not square pointy boxes with a flat bottom.  ;D

How many have you made then, Lucytania?

Is there somewhere you post your good ones? I'd love to see them.

I'm assuming that with only 15 posts by you, all made within the past few hours, that you have'nt actually posted any here. or did you do that under another name?

Maybe the experienced Ketshup users can help you out. For me personally the hull is the most difficult part of the whole ship to design, especially bulbous bow with smooth lines. ;)

(The bow below is the result after one day of work starting with a cylinder in 3ds Max)
