Logos Hope
« on: April 18, 2009, 01:10:46 »

Hi all, just thought I should show you all these photos I found. It's from today well actually yesterday friday, when the ship from operation mobilisation Logos Hope, arrived to our city Tórshavn. She will be staying here for almost a week I think, so soon I'll get my chance to take a look at her. Her first name was Gustav Vasa then Norrøna and served for many many years as the only ferry going outside faroe Island, but then the new Norrøna was built and the old Norrøna was sold to OM in 2004 and february 2009 she was finally ready for service.
Here is a link from the ceremony which was held yesterday http://www.portal.fo/myndafrasogn.php?tn=1659&mn=20595

According to your Prime Minister:

I am also quite pleased that so many Faroese have signed on and have chosen to volunteer their help onboard. It goes without saying that I am happy and proud that the homeport of the Logos Hope is the Faroes. She is indeed a stately representative of the Faroes and a most preeminent ambassador of our land.

Maybe you should sign on, tell them you quite familiar with Marseille, The Solent, New York, San Francisco, Phi Phi... and they might let you have a turn at the wheel   :)

So I was on her today and everything was changed. There were very few things I could recognize. The car deck was made to library and cafe and other stuffs, it looked so beautiful. We got a tour around the ship and also got down to the machinery. The crew was so kind, and I'm maybe going back there on Tuesday for pictures of the ship. I'm also thinking about making an modeling here, possible for ship sim. But it looked much better and I'm very glad this ship got in their hands.

Logos Hope is still in trouble
Urgent need for a chief engineer for keeping the ship sailing. I read this on the Dutch website http://www.cip.nl/nieuwsbericht_detail.asp?id=29788 (http://www.cip.nl/nieuwsbericht_detail.asp?id=29788).

Logos Hope is still in trouble
Urgent need for a chief engineer for keeping the ship sailing.

The missionary ship Logos Hope is stationary in the Philippines and for continueing to sail, there is an urgent need for a chief engineer who leads the team who mans the engineroom. "Our workers want to pass the Good News of Jesus Christ by spreading the books, talking with visitors, going to the country with teams and providing practical assistance", Douwe Scheepsma explains on behalf of Operation Mobilization (OM). "And if the vessel is stationary, all this will not be able to happen."

Scheepsma calls the Logos Hope like an appartment building with nine floors where 400 people live and work for 365 days a year .

millions
For the worldwide missionary work it is of great importance that the Logos Hope will be back in motion. "Since 1970 we have had over 42 million people on board. We have reached millions more with teams that went into the interior. Fifty million Bibles and New Testaments or part of the Bibles were distributed. We have developed a partnership with more than 50,000 churches and tens of thousands came to faith in recent years. "

"It is therefore of great interest that the ship will sail. As Logos Hope isn't sailing now, we can can't reach large numbers and diverse groups of people, whom we want to bring into contact with our goal: knowledge, help and hope. "OM also has a financially benefit from an active missionary ship. "The Logos Hope has sold over three million books . Every day we sell fewer books, the more we are dependent on contributions from people concerned with."

Are you the engineer who is needed by the Logos Hope? Look at www.operatiemobilisatie.nl (http://www.operatiemobilisatie.nl) for more information.
