In this clip the Russian Nuclear icebreaker and the swedish Oden. By leaving the swedish icebreaker Oden ( the largest in Sweden) back in Polar  area - worked together there - the russian saying goodbye in a russian way with a russian song Slavanka in the speakers on deck !
50 Let Pobedy was one of the icebreaker escorting the tanker Vladimir Tikhonov from Murmansk to Thailand in the at present free from Pirates Artic Ocean...

Interesting news, thanks for sharing.

I wonder if the icebreaker costs would be less than the savings in fuel from the shorter passage and the savings from not having to mess about with all the anti-piracy crap and extra huge insurance premiums.

I also wonder if we would ever see pirates in the Arctic in the event of it becoming a major shipping route.
