a hero or a coward?
« on: August 12, 2011, 01:25:11 »

i recently watched a documentery about the poket battleship admiral graf spee and i was suprised on how people could consider captain langsdorf a coward when he chose to save his crew and scuttle the ship rather than sail and get obliterated. (remember he thort there was a massive naval force outside montivideo which ment if he went out of the harbour he would be facing cirtain deat.)

i think the captain was more heroic doing what he did because he beleived that the young people in his crew shudnt lose their lifes because he disobeyd orders and engaged the brittish warships.

over 100 people in his crew owed their lives to him when he chose to save them and scuttle the graf spee.

what do you think. is he a hero for saving all those lives.....or is he a coward for not leaving montivideo with all guns blazing?
