a little issue with reversing
« on: August 03, 2011, 12:59:53 »

Every time I back up a vessel it always turn one way. And I don't have the thrusters on and i'm not steering it. This is really annoying because when playing missions the vessel won't go into it's mooring spot as easy as before the v1.3.5
Is this how real vessels act?

yeah I have that too :/

I start reversing and I find once I hit about three knots, it starts turning for no reason and is extremely hard to counteract, so for instance reversing into a berth in Dover I end up missing the berth :/

Ships with a right handed propellor will, in reality, always swing the bow to starboard when going astern. This is known as "prop walk" and is used by ship handlers to make life easy in many cases. The models in SSE are designed to reflect this situation to make them as realistic as possible. If you are having a problem & if the ship is fitted with a bow thruster then use it to counteract the effect. A vast amount of work is done with the dynamics of the ships in SSE to try to replicate the real thing.

is this the same for twin props?

I find it gets worse if you start trying to turn :/

is it suppose to be that bad though? I have gotten 60' per minute RoTs sometimes... :/

How do the real Ships cope? When I am on the ships at Dover they seem to glide effortlessly backwards with no visible sign of turning?
