Great news Andy.

Is this as an engineeering cadet or for that other department? :)

Either way I would strongly advise learning a little bit about the company and the ships before you go, they may well ask you to name a few of the ships just to show that you have taken an interest and really want to work for them.

If you have any questions before your interview post them here, there are a few people on here who should be able to help.

Tut, Tut. There is only one department that matters. ::)

My views exactly Traddles! :D

Actually on a serious note, one of the things I love about my present ship is that there is absolutely no oil and water, when I first started on passenger ships I was dragged into the chief engineers office one morning because I was seen having a beer with a deck officer, cargo ships were like a breath of fresh air as there were so few people onboard that everyone had to work as a team.

I was a little worried that coming back to passenger ships would mean having to re-educate a few people on the matter, but even though we have a combined deck and engine compliment of more than 100 on here everyone works fairly well together.  (maybe it's because we are all so bust hating the hotel department! :) )

Hi Clanky,
In fact I fully agree with all you say above. I could never understand the "Oil & water" thing. I always was of the opinion that we were both aiming for the same thing. Get the cargo there and get a load to bring home. As to passenger ships, ugh, talking cargo! ::) No thanks. ;)
To get back on topic, I hope you get the post Andy and I wish you all the best. ( On deck of course )

That's a shame...I can't say I've heard anyone having that problem before. I suppose it must be to do with their own policy/insurance reasons :)

Either way, January isn't too long to wait! ;D

Jack
P.S. I take it they've given you sponsorship, though? If so, congratulations :2thumbs:
