Interesting bugs with SSE
« on: December 07, 2010, 22:43:06 »

First, I was disapointed by load times, so long... Then I was disapointed by the impossibility to steer the boat with my joystick. I have a throttle and a stick I usually use for flight simulation, but only the throttle is seen by SSE.

But worse, today I had 2 interesting bugs: I saw a coast guard ship flying over a cargo as if it was trying to make it sink, and I had an invisible hovercraft. I could make screenshots of these, see below.

I really think this game has been developed with the feet... but if someone could help me with these bugs, I would be more than happy.

Hi Rocky,

Welcome to the Forum.

First and foremost, please register your copy of SSE with the Forum. This will entitle you to access many other useful boards of the Forum including Technical assistance.

Bugs like yours do occur with SSE.

You can report it, but in a specific way, but this will be possible only after you register your copy of SSE in the Forum. After that, please follow the link below and post your message there. There is a good chance that a moderator may move your post to the right board.

Hello vin_sun,

Thank you for your reply. Can you please tell me more about how to register my copy of SSE in the forum?
I didn't find the option to do this but I would be glad to do it. Needless to say I have an official copy purchased at SimWare.

More generally, I can say that I have been a customer of SHip Simulator 2006 (long time ago) and I think the global level of quality has decreased since then. I know SSE is more advanced and has more features, but this should not kill the quality.

This is just my opinion...

Hi Rocky,

Just as Eric has said ..... I will show it to you in screenshots

At the head of the Forum page

On clicking Profile you will see this with info about you.

Scroll down and you should see this

Once this is done you are a "formal" member of the Forum.

I understand your feelings about SSE. SS2008 was quite good. SSE is good generally especially the graphics. Yes, it does need some "fine tuning" and I hope it will all be fixed with the 1.3 update.

Hi Rocky651 , and welcome on this forum.

Vin_sun and eric already gave you all the explanations for entering your licence key on your forum profile :)

Let me inform you that there's a french section on this forum - if you want to talk with french people, that might interest you

About the different bugs you encountered, did you update the game to the latest available version ? You can check your version by going in Options, from the main menu. The version will then be displayed in the lower left corner of your screen. If you have a version below 1.2.2, please update your game (you can download the 1.2.2 update from http://www.shipsim.com/downloads/updates ). A 1.3 update is planned for release soon, but no date has been given yet.

You should be able to use your throttle and your stick with the game, but only two controllers are recognized by the game. If more than two controllers are connected to your computer, please disconnect those you don't want to use in ship simulator before running the game. You should them be able to use your two joysticks (if you set up correctly your controls from the Options menu).

I hope you'll enjoy the game as much I do !

regards,

Denis

I thank you all for your high level of reactivity.
I have just registered my SSE license so I should now have access to the technical support forum. I will also see the French section, but I don't mind reading and writing in English, no problem.

Regarding the controllers, I must say I have 3: a force feedback wheel for the car racing games, a throttle and a stcik for the aviation games. So indeed I have more than 2 and my joystick is the 3rd. This is certainly why I don't see it in SSE.

I will check my version but I can say I have already updated SSE with the update available online. I may have 1.2.0 instead of 1.2.2.

For the other bugs, I am on contact with Matrijn by email, this is very good support.

Thank you.

Hi Rocky, I also have three controllers, (a wheel, throttle and joystick) but indeed only two can be used in the game at the same time..
I don't think you need to disconnect any, just appoint commands carefully, you can even add keyboard controls if you want..

This topic may be interesting for you..(it works for me  ;)

From what I've found so far, if 3 controllers are connected to your computer, only the two first can be 'seen' by ship sim. So, if you want to use the 1st and third, you can't, as the third won't be seen, and you have to disconnect the second. No need to disconnect the third if you want to use the first and second.

You're probably right.. The reason I think I can use three controllers is because beside a steering wheel I have a "combined controller"  (Saitek X52 Pro)  consisting of a seperate joystick and a throttle. The joystick is linked to the throttle, which in turn connects to the computer. So even though I have three controllers, only two cables are connected to the computer.. :)

You're right : I have a Saitek X45 (older version of your unit, but similar in design), and indeed, for Windows, altough it consists of two separate controllers, it's seen as a single unit (only one USB port used).
