up in the air...

I think it could be fun with some ship including a helicopter wich would allow to fly around in the ports and nearby city areas.
It would not be too complicated i think just demanding ship and helicopter models and a simple overlook of the enviroment textures so they look good in all directions.
Maybe too much work for a little of fun but it certainly would be nice.

Perhaps some here would say a ship sim should have no flying content. I have flown many aircraft sims and so to me I think it would be a dissapointment after DCS Ka-50 or IL-2 etc as far as the flight model is concerned. But some might want this.

What I want though is a Collins class submarine so I can sink the Whaling ships like I would in SH3  ;D

Yes, it would be good to get a "bird's eye view" of the port.

MS "Train Simulator" has this "camera view" and it is called Yard View. There has been a lot of contributions from its fans and this is one of it. It is amazing to note as to how high one can zoom out to get an aerial view.

Then again, it depends on the programming methods used by MSTS and SSE to achieve a similar option.

I don't think a modelled flyable hellicopter would be a good idea as such (although Nautis has this I believe), as it would touch into the flightsim genre and people would start comlaining about the dynamic of the helicopter.

However, that said I do think a flyable camera would be a nice idea, or a fixed positioned camera which is focused on the movement of the ship.

I used to enjoy going up in the spotter plane in Ship Sim 2006.  I miss that facility.
