Free roaming, i like to be virtual onboard and see the scenerys moving by.
Its much more fun than in shipsim 2008 because Extreme has much more variation and reality in its enviroments.
But i will have to look at the missions when i get tired of driving through the ports.
In shipsim 2008 i did all the missions that not looked very difficult and it was special nice with the greater boat traffic included in the missions.

I use the "Free Roaming" option mainly to get the hang of the controls and normally opt for the Atlantic in clear weather. With a bit of AI traffic around one can even simulate a "close quarter" situation and observe how the AI traffic behaves. It was here that I understood how to use the azipods on the "Ocean Star" and the "Bugsier".

I have completed a few missions in all three categories. Some of them do spring surprises which gives reason to look for solutions through the forum. The challenges are there and failures can be a bit exasperating especially when it happens towards the end not only due to your own errors but at times due to instability in the mission itself.

Land was created to provide a place for boats to visit.
