It is the same hull as the Queen Victoria and a couple of carnival ships, I think the carnival ships have different superstructure, but they are all basically the same.

The only real difference is the extra cabins added onto the stern, for an extra touch of "ugliness" ::)

Interior will probably be new though.

I think she's a member of the "Vista class" cruise ship.

I think she's a member of the "Vista class" cruise ship.

Does that mean it's full of unnecessary garnish?

A lot of people say that the new cruise ships are lovely inside...but unfortunately that's ex-changed for the looks of the exterior :-X (For some of the ships, anyway)

They are the same hull (and also the same as a few of the Carnival ships), but with different superstructure.

This obviously reduces the build costs and makes it easier for people to transfer between ships.

And hence the problem...  :-\

Ugly!! Cunard should have named her Mauritania or something like that, but not Queen... same with the QV.
The name Queen... should be used on ocean liners not cruse ships.

Her Maiden Voyage is tomorrow 10/12/2010

Unfortunately, as has already been mentioned, the majority of the Carnival Group recent new builds have followed the 'HAL' (Holland America Line) 'Vista' style of design.  The exterior of all of them being very similar with a few changes here and there.  The interiors have left a lot to be desired as well - P&O's Arcadia when she first came into service was - boring, so bland, no imagination at all!!  The advantage of using the HAL concept is obvious - it is cheaper to build on a recognised design with variations than to totally design a new ship from the very start.  From the ship spotters point of view it means that most of the ships look the same!!  Regretably I think that we will not see any new designs in the near future.

Regards
