Mighty Ships
« on: August 09, 2010, 22:39:54 »

Hi guys,

For those of you who like ships and live in the UK there is a TV Program called 'Mighty Ships'. It's about giving people an idea into what is in the huge ships both above and below deck.

It is on tonight at 11pm GMT so if any brits are interested, flick over to a channel called QUEST.

You might have to retune your freeview box to access the channel though!

EDIT:  Ohh and I nearly forgot, here's the website for it - http://www.questtv.co.uk/programmes/mighty-ships

It's available here in the 'Colonies' as well.  It comes on the 'Discovery Channel' in HD.  I'm trying to find the series on DVD, but the Discovery Channel website doesn't offer it...strange.  But it's an excellent series from what I've see of it.

I'm watching the episode on the "Algowood", a Great Lakes freighter. The "contestant" gets to go for simulator training at Georgian College, then pilot the vessel through some locks on the Welland Canal. See the URL:

The one on the Queen Mary 2 is good...I also enjoyed Becrux and Emma Maersk :2thumbs:

....In fact I really enjoy them all ....except you have to sift through the dramatized stuff first...but other than that it's an enjoyable series to watch! A lot of Nautical Themed programmes seem to be popping up lately!

Yeah I agree it's good to see programs like this. Mighty Ships is on again tonight, about an aircraft carrier if I remember rightly.

Tune in and watch :)
