Being a bit of a trekkie in the past, I must admit I liked the look of the iPad. But when it comes down to it, when would it ever have a place in my own life? My house has three desktops, two laptops, I have a Google G1 phone for on the move. We can even go online on the Wii or either of the two DSi's if we are desperate enough.
When at home, I sit in a nice comfy chair and browse the web on a 24" screen on a quad core PC connected by 20 meg fibre optic broadband, using any one of four different browsers that ALL support Flashplayer.
Will this new iPad use a scaled up version of the iPhones OS?.. if so, I doubt it'll have Flashplayer.
It's too big to fit in a pocket, it's too expensive to just get one for the sake of it. I reckon it'd just lay on the table getting used maybe once a day to check the news.
I watched a Youtube video about this thing and the general consensus is that it is a bit of a joke and that there there is no market for it.
Even playing Devil's advocate here, I wonder how many Apple fans who already own an iPhone and an Apple laptop would buy this? Especially if it has the same limited surfing functionality as all current smart phones.
I have no doubt they will shift a lot of units, but can't help wondering who would buy one and why.
