Greetings,
One of my wishes is that we would have a ferrie crossing,example Calais-Dover.Than we need to create the channel(Northsea)between this 2 ports to.
The reason why this part of the Northsea,because it's narrow,so i think it will less work to create it.If you take Hook of Holland to Sheerness,it's quit a distance.
I hope it will be in future releases in the game,but i know it will take some more years,before this can be realized.

When if there are ferry services in future versions there should be a few things in it also. When you moored the boat you should see people get of and on the boat. So that you can see te people you just transported.

? Digitalizing Weymouth harbor (even with Portland) and St-Malo would be easier than San Francisco!

From Rotterdam to Hull with a night ferry?
In fact, I think that with the open ocean possibility, we could do any ferry crossing, as long as both harbors and the ferry exist?
Or does the open ocean exclude

cruising into a harbor? That could be, while night sailing would be possible at sea, but not in the harbors?

You could model the solent, you could include the hovercraft service Portsmouth seafront/Ryde, the fast cats on the similar journey all be it from the terminals, it would also be a start to the Portsmouth routes to France with Portsmouth harbour modelled. There are then the car ferries (3 routes) and the Container ships into Southampton. Its a very compact area considering the amount of differing shipping which uses it.

I think once people started making their own add ons and running things like that was when MSFS and MSTS became much more popular.

You are right, once the populus had an impact on the product, the popularity exploded. I think, however, to make some realy hardcore ferry additions to the game, it will take a lot more than simple consumer add-ons, but some commercial add-ons with enhanced ferry terminals, animations, more routes/ports, many more ferries, more ship control features, etc.

Yes, again you make a good point.

MSTS is littered with poor railway lines and stock made by well meaning people with others who are too polite to say it's c**p. Yet there are many hobby made add ons that are really, really good.

There has been several really good models seen on this forum by amateurs. But I bet if you can import models into 2008 then many people will be making 2nd and 3rd rate models and claiming them to be great.

The problem will then be sifting the good ones from the not-so-good ones. It doesn't matter what commercial add ons are made there will be people making their own versions of ships!

Perhaps if Vstep licensed (at a reasonable cost) to have amateur models 'approved' or whatever (I think this was suggested before by someone)

VStep is going to impose a rating system, saying what vessels meet what standards, how good they are, etc . . . So I imagine they will help sift the good from the bad . . . OR SO I HOPE! $:-\$

That sounds very sensible.

Although if people want to make '2nd rate' ships then they should be allowed to do so- not everyone will have the same skill.

I think we'll just have to see what VStep does on this score.

I'm working on Pride of Bilbao (not yet advanced enough to show) and I will keep on re-doing it until I get it right... or lose patience and go back to MSTS

HA HA If you ever need someone to encourage ya and give ya some tips, let me know. I used to model in 3D back in the day, and being a creative director I have an eye for details and usually know how to solve the issue.

As I said in our PMs I modelled in Microstation professionally and was good at it- but that was 5 years ago- maybe 6.

The principle is still the same, but I'm finding it so hard to get back into it.

I've been following Barrys tutorials and made a start but just can't progress (Barry has been really good with advice (thanks Barry if you're reading this)).

If I had a copy of micro I could chuck out a good ship every week no probs.
