Citys at sea, not ships!
« on: December 18, 2009, 21:45:56 »

Casting my mind back about 10 years, i was once reading a book on big things like Big planes and big ships and big skyscrapers, and one thing stood out to me, an article on how engineers are trying to come up with a soloution for the uncontrollable population growth.
There answer was to build citys at sea, floating citys with all the shops, airports, factory's, houses you need in a city etc etc.

I cant remember the actual drawings, but i remember the concept drawings looking really smart, and seen as if found a new love for all things sea-born, i was wondering what your views are on a city entirley floating on the surface are?

could one be built?, even with unlimited money? with today's engineering excellence i cant see why not myself.

They are saying they can engineer a floating city. That will be the Freedom Ship, world's not yet largest floating ship and first floating city. She will include an airport, and lots and lots of distractions.

Dan, last I heard, the people behind this have NEITHER money NOR sense...

EDIT: For such a 'unique' project, I'd have expected a better website http://www.freedomship.com/

I'm thinking of building a fully functional starship capable of reaching alpha centauri.

Would you like to PAY ME now IN ADVANCE? Trust me, your money is safe...

The only problem is that by the time we get to Alpha Centauri- we will land and be greeted by a "have you seen WM?" post.
