SeaFrance Molliere car deck
« on: July 25, 2009, 00:31:13 »

A small point that has been bugging me. On the upper car deck of this ship, the starboard side towards the centre island, near the aft end there is a section about maybe 10-15m long which is slightly lower with a gentle ramp down to it at each end. It also has a barrier across it.

I didn't get down to the lower deck to see if it is a lift or something. It's bugging me- anyone know please?

Is it shown on the 3rd picture down here:

? ? ?

At a guess, I would say probably more likely to be an internal ramp

HI TFM

Thanks for that; that was what I thought- either a lift or a ramp down to a mezzanine deck below; if it hadn't taken SeaChance so long to open the car deck (disembarkation is a little iffy on this fleet) then I would have looked at the deck below.

Incidentally, am I going deaf or does SF never make safety announcements before leaving port. I speak fairly good French, and can 'get by' in English and have never heard anything in either language on this ship...

I have heard reports on another forum that the Captain doesn't make any announcments.

I thought they legally had to...

I know I had a problem with another ferry company- the PA system was broken and because I didn't hear the announcement I didn't go and register my 'non-landing-return-cruise' and for a long story I was stranded in Calais...

When I pointed out to the ferry company "and one more point, I didn't get opportunity to hear the safety drill due to your faulty equipment" it was a totally different story... MUCH more helpful.

I won't mention the ferry company publically as they did resolve it. However, it was a passenger ship converted from a freighter (not the Fantasia or the two other recent conversions)
