AI Stupidity!
« on: February 20, 2009, 06:29:50 »

Hello everyone,
This is my first post here but I do have some playing time on SS08 well I downloaded the new patch and read that the ai will now try to avoid the player ship but I don't think the all of the bugs got worked out. I was recently playing the Trash'n'Garbage Tour around SanFran with the pushboat and was one my to the first waypoint and my barge got hit by not one but two ships!! Can something be done to fix it?

Welcome to the forums!

I don't know but I am sure VSTEP will make some improvements on AI in 2010, don't expect to see a patch for 2008 since they have pretty much switched over to making the new version.

Some advice I would give you know, watch out for those retarded captains!

I'm not really a mission sort, but really all I can recommend is don't go walking into the engine room or wherever while sailing, stay by the controls and keep a very sharp lookout :)

Oh, and as Austin said welcome ;D

Hi mellow214,
The AI traffic will (mostly) avoid your player ship but unfortunately not her tow, nor in fact any non player vessel.
I say mostly because some AI vessels do have drunken skippers on board. In particular watch out for any of the inland cargo vessels some of them are pretty diabolical.
