This may be the dummest question ever asked on this forum but would I be right in thinking that xbox-360 games won't work on the old regular xbox's? ???

About the Xbox games on 360. It's worth bearing in mind that some of them work better than others. Microsoft decided to use software emulation rather than pay Intel a nice lump sum to have the chip from the first Xbox in the 360 as well. Game's like Halo 1 and 2 play flawlessly, and are vastly improved. However some big titles such as Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Forza Motorsport, they're performance goes from being good (that being just about what they'd look/perform like on the Xbox 1), to bad (that being the framerate dipping to about 5-15 frames per second).

If you're sticking with the Xbox (which if you're a PC person, I'd recommend as it's a great starter console), then you'll find some fantastic titles for a bargain now (i.e. Halo 1 and 2 can be bought together for around a tenner!). If you ever upgrade to a 360 though, you'll find a vast difference in quality. I'm right now waiting for my copy of Race Pro to be delivered. That, and Codemasters bringing Formula One to the 360 saved me shelling out for an expensive HD movie player (PS3). :)

I used to be a playstation player myself, no worries, just nice plain sailing :)

But then I discovered computers  I wouldn't ever go back now!

One thing I don't like about computers is the fact that you can spend so much money on them, and virus's seem to be at large ::) :'(

Anyway, I never had an XBox, but quite a few of my friends had it and like Jashum said, Games like Halo are quite good on it! :)

I'm not much a video gamer. But the non-handhelds are much better than the handhelds
