How many yachts/sailing boats are covered in the add on ?
Can you get hands on with controlling the sails etc, how realistic is it ?

Good evening,

For a start, there is no sailing yachts in the sim at all. ;)

There is a classic motorizerd yacht in NH, (Pics on the main website), but no sailing ones.

Hi Jon,

there is no sailing boat at all! Except a few static or AI objects, but those are without sails too. Until now, the Ship-Simulator only serves the engine driven vessels, but maybe we'll get sailing vessels with one of the upcoming versions...

Cheers

thats a shame !!!! - having to "up n down" sails, taking into account wind, change in weather conditions etc... would be great to control..

Not for those of us who don't know how to sail!

Well, the origin of the game just counts for motor driven ships. And there was a need to have such a kind of a simulator. Since the very beginning in 2006, the developers did a great job to improve the simulation in every direction with more and more realistic ships and their behaviours, with magnificent ports and gameplay elements.

Guess you are knowing the Virtual Sailor?

Thanks Bottman,

I don't know too much about V.S !! I did post an entry on comparisons with ship sim but I sort of knew it was inappropriate to compare the two on this forum - which is fair enough. I know I have to follow the forum rules.
I'm new to ship sim and predict many months of fun ahead, as you know I yet to purchase New Horizons..

Many thanks & best regards
Jon.

You may know the Volvo Ocean race is underway (leg 2 has just finished)
They also have a sailing game, in which you do the same course as the real competitors
There is a car to be won, among other things.. Up to now more than 82.000 people from over 191 countries have joined it.  Maybe something for you..?  :)
