Keeping with tradition

I am pleased to see that the Cruise Liner companies have kept the old tradition and fitted leadsmans platforms on the hulls just forward of the bridge wings. In the event of depth sounder failing a man will rush out onto the platform with his lead, shout up the depth. What is the mark on the leadline for 35feet.

John, are you sure they are leadsman’s platforms and not emergency heads? That would be an even older tradition.
