Hi guys,

Well if you are not sure that a kick would be justified, you can ask what the reason is.

If you don't feel you get a good reason or if you are in doubt, you can always decide not to kick, that would be the wise choice.

We had some complaints in the past about people being kicked without valid reasons. So we'd like everyone to be carefull about it and when in doubt, don't kick them out!  ;)

Regards,
Fred

True, it doesn't always work. But then you can always report a player to us, if it concerns a VSTEP server.

Fred

If it isn't a Vstep server, you can report it to the Adminstrator of that server, of course. They may or may not do something about it.

The good thing with your own server is that you know the IP address of the person you want to ban. Firewalls are great for that!

Look up their IP adress and enter it as a blocked IP in your firewall.

But, most people get allocated a number from a block when they connect to their ISP. So their IP address may vary. In that case you may want to bar a "block", say 123.45.67.01 - 123.45.67.255

But, that may also bar people who you want to allow in. (Person X who you want to bar may be with say BT. Person Y who you want to allow may also be with BT)

Once you get used to tweaking the Firewall, you can just ban them almost instantly and then re-enable access for the good guys.

Some people are to touchy, I'm not going to say names but I accidently attached a linne to someone with a miss-click and apoligized three times. And they started a kick vote for me.

Gosh, I remember this thread. Seems so long ago...

If you didn't mean to sink or damage someone and you appologise (a lot!), you generally shouldn't get kicked off. But, other players do have the right to expect not to be damaged through someone else's carelessness.

If they've spent an hour getting through to where they wanted to be and you sink them (even by accident), I can understand the emotions getting high.

"just a game".

If you kick someone off a server can the person causing the trouble come back to the same server, or do they have to wait a while before they can access the server?

In case of being kicked from the server, you can immediately join the server again from which you have been kicked. It would be better that after a kick, you can't join the server again for about 10 minutes. That would be a good punishment.
