Title: edit *.CGR files

can we edit *.cgr file? to re-paint ship? or change ship logo?

Hiya be2ny and welcome to the forum :)

It's not recommended to even try to alter these files, for a couple of reasons:

1.  You can cause the game to stop functioning.
2.  You may lose all support if you have Technical issues with the game.

well, when you reinstall the game, you have support again for normal issues right?

I guess that depends on what changes you make, and if you mess-up your registry, or your profile.  If you performa a FULL reinstall, and the problems are no longer present, then you've most likely corrected the mistakes made by altering files.

If you still have problems after a reinstall, it could be difficult to determine the exact cause, this is why we suggest that you don't alter anything like that ;)
