Title: [POLL] Sailing
Post by: [RWP]DJM on June 19, 2007, 23:45:30
Hiya :)

As most of you know, I don't sail in real life....but do you?

Would be nice to see how many members really do sail outside of Ship Sim ;)

Regards.

Except that I think you are happy where you are, I would pity you. I have sailed all my life, in everything from a sailing kayak to a 60' boat designed to sail single-handed & non-stop around the world, and I have always enjoyed it.

I have probably 30,000 offshore sea miles on deliveries, but I really prefer sailing small boats into coves, etc.

But for our retirement I have built (had built  ;D ) a power boat. Go figure.

Cheers,
Michael

Occasionally, retired and living on board of our converted trawler with which we sailed some 15.000 nautical miles mostly to/from Bretagne on holiday. (preferred ports of call le Stiff, Camaret and Morgat, because I was in the vicinity as a midshipman).

I have sailed all of my adult life, ferry boats, break-bulk cargo ships, troop ships, tankers, oil drilling vessels, offshore supply vessels, research vessels, container vessels, and now in my "retirement" I am on a riverboat casino.  Since we don't leave the dock, I take out my frustrations by sailing on Ship Simulator ;D   John

Greetings,
I sailed on sailvessels,since i was 8 years old,than i went for the fishingboats(Belgium).Now i sailing a barge in Holland,Belgium and Germany,with sand.
I did a couple of times the Cutty Sark Tall Ships Race, and i'm a instructor for sailing in Belgium, and gave some lessons in Italy(Lago di Como).
I still love to be on a vessel(any time).
I also help to get vessels to new destinations, like the south of France,or bring them back.this means you can hire me to do this job.
I have experience on sea,and on the inland-waters.
Regards
Marc

I'm a real windsailer, from small one person boats (laser) up to sea sailing. I do this one or two weekends a month.

I see sailing as 'on the sea' or 'regular' river sailing, so if this was either of these, yes it counts ;).  I have done other water-based activities, like rowing boats, canoeing etc. but nothing on the sea.

Some great stories there so far, we seem to be split pretty evenly with votes also ;)

Regards.
