Wow, this is really amazing. I never thought it would be possible to see it with my own eyes but this patch really fixed all my issues plus i got my Titanic whistle back :D. And it all happened on Christmas eve.And i really like the horn/whistle echo it makes the game more interesting. I was just wondering on the Titanic there seems to be a some strange people talking in the background when im sitting at the wheel, now what's the story with that? ??? :D
-
what is multiplayer like??? or haven't you tried it yet?
-
it's great1
-
gee for some reason The Titanic still changes the graphics to budget when moving from environment to environment.(Voyage to New York)...Hmm ??? I'm getting suspicious about this. :-X
-
Also they still have not fixed Red Eagle's sideways speed (used to be 3 knots sideways when SS2008 first came out; it was reduced to 0.75 knots possibly due to a bug in patch v1.1), so was a wee bit disappointed.
Oh well you can't have everything.

About the weird voices in the Titanic...
In the 1.3 patch they added "realitic radionoise-sound"... they just put it in all the ships, sometimes very disturbing. They did not notice these radiosounds did not exist on titanic, elbe, furie,...
-
I found the Pride of Rotterdam's rate of turn has changed drastically, it's alot slower. :(
-
Also they still have not fixed Red Eagle's sideways speed
Merry Christmas, Kev,
Still crabbing about crabbing I see. :)
You are right, of course, but with the big to do list and a horde of impatient folk, some things will always fall through the cracks. Hopefully your day will come.

The change is indeed impressive.
Stopped, bowthruster at 100%, the RoT is 6°/min (half an hour for a half turn...)
Stopped, full rudder, one engine 100% forward, the other 100% astern gives a RoT 20°/min
Ahead full, full rudder stabilises speed around 16 kts and RoT around 72°/min, and consequently a turning circle diameter of around 780m, probably realistic enough.
There is no "prop wash" (screw knuckle, kick ?) at all to ease the steerage at low speeds like it should be, but it is the same for all ships, I think.
Regards,
Luc
The turning circle diameter has also become more independant of speed, which is positive.

Aha, very good point mate, i knew The Titanic did not have them in those times

Is it just me or The Red Eagle does NOT have a propeller what so ever :-X

Hee, hee I'm sure the guys at VSTEP are saying "oh no, not him going on about MV Red Eagle again!!!!" ;)
Yeah you're right, hopefully they will find time to fix that.
Kev
p.s. hope you had a great Christmas!

Yup, you're right. Red Eagle is propelled by Voith Schneider units (one at each end). No rudders either. So she is a pretty unique vessel in Ship Simulator 2008.
There was a lot of discussion about her because a lot of Ship Sim players found it difficult to control/steer her. Only a handful of people (I think!) found it quite easy to control her without any problems (not that I'm boasting, of course....seriously)

i hate the RED EAGLE its slow i like the RED JET 8)

Hi!
The sinking system better than 1.1?

Thanks for that i had no clue.Well speaking of the Red Eagle she is my second among favorite ships. I like to take a nice slow and long trip throughout the New York harbor under the sunset and hear the engines and watch the trail of wave she leaves behind at the back. And your right it is not hard to control her just takes a bit of skill. ;)
-
Is it just me or are the ship's wake foams not properly working in 1.3 yet?
-
The RED EAGLE is my favorite ship in SS08. I just wish more missions would be made with her in it.

Have had to uninstall the 1.3 patch and stay with 1.1 as I cannot stand the problems with the Pride of Rotterdam. Being a Ferry Enthusiast, she is the ship I use most often and prefer the more realistic movements of version 1.1 to the dreadful 1.3.
Do we have an idea when these issues will be fixed or indeed have we had an acknowledgment from VSTEP that they are aware of the problem.
-
VSTEP are aware of all problems, because there is a guy there who actually plays the sim. :)
Who do you think created the problems? :)
Seriously, all reported problems are brought to VSTEP’s attention. If they stopped to write a letter of acknowledgement for each new post on the same problem, they would have little time to fix them.
