Title: Forum Feedback
Post by: mark on June 08, 2007, 07:31:51
To all users,

It has been approximately six weeks since we released this new forum. I expect that most of you got used to the new interface, the new features and the look and feel of the forum.

I think this is a good time to do a small evaluation, so please use the poll and let us know what you think of the new forum and possibly explain what features you are missing.

It is much easier to keep track of the topics I post. I love the increased level or organization. The visual style . . . . A very nice upgrade indeed!

Obviously it is much more efficient, look how much I have posted since it went up! HA HA :D

I think it's great (although I don't know the old forum, apart from the occasional reference).

I didn't realise a computer game/ simualtion can bring this much socialising. I think this forum encouraged me to buy ss06 and DEFINATELY 08!!!

Great stuff.

Indeed, we have a superb community here :D

I think we are all looking at the future of great gaming. It has brought us not only together as gamers who like the same game, but it has made a lot of us friends . . . This is awesome indeed. Also, we have to thank the wonderful developers who talk with us and listen to our thoughts, concerns, and ideas.

I don't like the 'Show unread posts since your last visit'.  To me that sounds as if; we can view any post that has been made since our last visit, so long as no one else has read it.

If this is the case then I would much rather I could read all posts posted since my last visit, whether someone else has read them or not!

It means any unread posts that you personally haven't read.  So even if someone else has read them, they will still appear for you ;)

I use that and the "Show unread replies to your posts" features more than anything else here!

Also I find that it is quite awkward to higlight and then copy things on this forum.  You end up having to copy much more than you actually want and then cut it back.  I would certainly like it if this was sorted out.

Do you mean 'quoting?' Then why not use the quote button just to the right of the text?

No not the quoting, but just say you wanted to copy something from one of the threads to put it somewhere else,  another thread for instance, then it is not the easiest thing to do.

Mmm, I don't experience that problem at all. What browser (type and version) do you use? And do you actually like anything about the new forum?

Oh yes I like the forum, it's nice and clear and very uncluttered.  Also, I like the range of options at the top which allow me to create posts just as I want them.  The colours also look quite fresh in my opinion, better than the all yellow of the old forum.

My browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer, the trouble is; I have no problem highliting the text in the post but I also seem to get everything else that is below that post, and I mean everything.  The writing in all the other posts below it and the stuff around the edges such as 'Posted by:' and the site information at the bottom of the page.

The process I use for copy & paste on ANY webpage (except if it's a link) is, double-click and hold on the first word, then move the cursor to the last word.  If you get more than you intended, move the cursor back a little.  Once you've highlighted what you need, let go of the left mouse button, then copy the text.

Works for me every time ;)

Real compliment to the developers! SS will go far... It's great with all the ideas for later versions, optimises the idea's for later versions of the game so the sim can be the best experience possible!

Great work Vstep!

The main feature of this forum is not the technical aspect- a standard forum available anywhere, but the interaction between the people on it and Vstep.

I've seen so many forums (we all have) where everything decends into chaos and fighting. Moderators are kept really busy in some msts forums ive seen.

What a nice bunch of people.

Would just like to add my comments and agree that this forum is much friendlier than others I have used - even an old "Silver surfer" like me can use and understand it! Just have difficulty with some of the jargon sometimes. Hate to show my ignorance but what does LOL mean? Is there a dictionary of this kind of abbreviation anywhere? Keep up the good work - much appreciated.  :-*

Created a new topic explaning some of the jargon used, I'm certain it will be added to by other members too :)
