I have already downloaded and applied the latest 1.5.5. patch. But the multiplayer servers are not updated to this latest patch yet. I can only comnnect to MP servers which have the name (BETA)Vstep Official Server X [1.5.5]. If I want to connect to any regular MP server, I get a notification that the server is not an official Ship Simulator Extremes server.

To report this problem to Vstep, you can send a message about this problem to info@shipsim.com.

Does anyone know when the steam users will get this update or has it already been released for steam users?

Vstep probably is waiting for the release of the Inland Dlc to launch the new servers with the new ships and the newest patch. Be patient :)

I have reported this problem to Swenson. It would appear that the patch has included only access to the Beta servers which were for the use of Beta testers only. ??? Oh dear, what a rather unnecessary mess.

Angus.

Yup probably as simple as 'servers have not been updated yet'.

I guess a little patience is in order. Although it would have been nice if the updating of the servers would have been syncronized with the release of the patch.

Title: Re: Patch 1.5.5 Released

Why, what did you want to see fixed or changed?

There's not going to be any major overhaul anymore that will lead to a drastically better performance.

So other than that, what did you have in mind if I may ask?

I would like much more quality settings options, like Virtual Sailor/Vehicle Simulator does, to improve performance.

So by putting some more sliders in the options menu the game would suddenly magically work better you reckon?  :)

That would require those things to actually do something, which means an overhaul of the category that I mentioned wasn't really planned anymore.  ;)

Yes, that is what I reckon. Why does Virtual Sailor/Vehicle Simulator have a better performance than SSE2010 does?

While your going on about no major rehalls, does this mean that we're not going to have a new ship sim game coming soon? Just wondering as I think it's odd for no major rehalls or no news on a game which from what I under stand has sold over half a million copies!

A SDK would be very very helpful.
As for those extra "sliders", just free up the ones in the "Ocean Setting" dialog, please.
But a Software development might be very helpful for those willing to take up the challenge.

simple answer.. yes.  ::)

Well, no that's not fair. I guess they just have their priorities, I wouldn't call them lazy. But they SHOULD be quicker than this if you ask me.

Unfortunately Vstep has no power over that.

It's the one i copy pasted in the first post.

But for example, the note about all the ship changes tells nothing, what was changed? How? That's what i was asking :P

I just noticed something.

Yesterday I tested with some friends the oceana in a private server. She was also in a Beta server. And it works great.

But now they updated the servers to 1.5.5 and the Oceana is in NONE of the servers.

Greetings,

Koen

Well... it's basically a lot to do with dynamics..  in simple terms, 'to make the ships behave in a more realistic manner'.

You can't really put that in more detailed words, really.  :)

The new multiplayer server creation UI is Awesome!!
I love how you can choose what ships you want on the server instead of the old version where it was only the dlc ships you could choose.

Thats sweet! :D :D

Hey guys,

I was searching the steam forums for a friend as to why the steam version of SSE has the wrong build version but the latest patch.

Seems that the steam users have the fixes/updates but steam failed to apply the new build version update, I saw a post of it on the steam forums. Hopefully steam fixes this really quick and is certainly not the first time i've seen steam make this mistake-- (arma 3 beta)

I believe they have also made that mistake once before with ShipSim.
Title: Re: Patch 1.5.5 Released
Post by: boatsimrocks25 on September 04, 2013, 16:00:43
Yes they made the same mistake with 1.5.0.
Now instead of waiting on VStep©, we are waiting on Steam to change the build number to read-- 1100 1.5.5.  A couple friends told me that they have the newest patch fixes/updates but there version number still read 1.5.0.

Someone poke Steam  !:)

Also is there maybe a temporary fix for steam users while Steam fixes the error in the build number version?

A big respect from my side that VSTEP still cares for Shipsim. Many games/simulators are not being improved once they are released.

But it seems that users expect with an update a complete new simulator...I guess this expectation is a bit too much..then it´s likely called SS Ultimate or so...but we are still talking about updates..

So thanks for a new update.

Try putting that update file in your Ship sim extremes folder and run it as administrator. not sure what to do if that doesn't work though.
If you got the Steam version then Steam will update the game automatically.

I wonder how long its going to take Steam to change the build number then upload the tiny patch to fix it, We need to poke Steam. :P

Are you installing the game, or the patch?

Because this error might occur if you try to apply the patch that Vstep released, whilst you actually have the Steam version of the game installed.

Yes Steam did apply the patch to the game, but they quickly shut down the update to avoid more people getting the wrong build number issue. If you check the forums section on the Steam UI theres multiple posts of people who have the latest update but the wrong build numbers.
Its a problem thats happened with multiple games and it's Not Vstep's fault that Steam screwed up.

So if you want to rage at someone, rage at Steam for making a mistake that they do with lots of games. For Arma 3 Beta it took them a couple weeks to fix the tiny number mishap.

Are you talking about the staircase thats just behind the the bridge. If so I think the staircase was there at one point probably during beta testing then was removed due to compatibility issues with the game.

Seems that Steam/Valve has the time to patch other games but they cannot fix a tiny issue with the exe version being wrong for 1.5.5 for users who have SSE on Steam. I don't understand why the exe build issue would come up.

Has anyone tried reinstalling SSE for the Steam version to see if it corrects itself for the newest build exe-- 1100 1.5.5?

That may be her bow thruster sounds you're hearing from the bridge. I think the engine sounds are hearable at the Atrium area to the stern. I agree they should be a lot quieter than they are. But I think that would require the indoor sounds to be lowered.

Also pilot have other lights when you don't have a pilot you can put the normals lights on. Its searching for the lights but it is but under the standard buttons of the list of lights.

The only people who have version 1.5.5 are those who do not have the Steam version.

Steam screwed up on the patch and did not change the build version number.
Some friends say they didn't even get the patch and they have auto update on and still nothing at all.

I find it very disappointing that Steam has time to patch other games but not SSE?

Hello Apejens, GeoP17,

The patch 1.5.5 changed the propellers to controllable pitch, in accordance of your references (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,29071.msg385501.html#msg385501).
I don't know how Steam updates work, but the stock InlandDLC reverts the patch 1.5.5 to 1.5.0, so that 1.5.5 should be re-installed after having installed the InlandDLC. This mistake is probably due to the (wrong) choice of an initial DLC version previous to 1.5.5. Unfortunately, it also lost last minute changes intended to use the now player barges in multiplayer, as well as the Roeier workboat wild behaviour at full rudder/RPM.

The workaround for the version downloaded from the Vstep site has been tested successfully thanks to some Dutch players, but we don't know if it can be used for the Steam versions.

Could you please test this:
After having installed the DLC, having restored patch 1.5.5., the contents of the attached zip should be placed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vstep", and Albatross IV should have inwards CPP now, which as you know can be checked by her less favourable turning, just one side ahead without rudder.

If the results are positive, the workaround should make its way through the download both at Vstep and Steam...

Regards,
Luc
