Ok so I decided to have a go at modelling the Celebrity Infinity... want to see a non Azipod cruise ship so... (the real ship does have azimuths but i will change it to shaft and rudder propultion or i may make both one with azipods and one without...)

I am using Autodesk Maya... dont know if that is a file worthy of Ship Sim but if not i can always Export it...

What do you mean... i was proud of how well i got the bulb to look... mayby it isnt deep enough or somethin... i will look at some more reference pics and see what i can do to it... over and out.... do you think the hull on the Oasis looks better if so i will swap them over...
Also the hull i used on this model is the same hull used on the Mediteranea Model.... was hard enough to do that i just usesed it and tweeked it a little bit... I may attempt to make another hull later.... this one does have some defects in it right now... :)
also let me know if any of you want as a close up on a part of the ship...

Thanks guys... have been away over the weekend so i dont have much to show... well i did do a bit of repairs on the hull as i made some severe modelling errors on the back (had two extrusions overlapingeach other...)
any way glad to see that i am not the only person wanting a non azipod cruise ship... i remember when getting a ship like the vermas or the prige of rotterdam out of rotterdam was a challange as you only had one set of thrusters at the bow... they have taken the challange out of it.... 8)
i think the next thing ill take a go at is making the lifeboats and the launching mechanism... and have a bash at the bridge consoles... and the doors for the balconies...

Well i guess not... i can change aspects of the design to mak it my own... a teacher said to me once "if you change something by 30% then its yours, but i dont know how they measure it..."
I could change the funnel and other things if needed...

dont know about that... there is also one for New York Harbour and Port Canaveral... their is a like on the site...
Also i have made the lifeboats and tender boats... will post pic soon...
EDIT: ok so im thinking of things to add... i was thinking of one of the big screens on the pool deck...
also if anybody has any blueprints or good photos from the side back and front of the vessel they would be a great help.... also i am in need of orthographic images of the lifeboats...

also does anybody know where i can find the proper ship symbols... such as the thruster, prop, bulbusbow and depth scale symbols... i can make them myself but i want to get a good reference...

Ok so a few things have been done here... inproved on the lifeboat pivot things... added a RIB and the Life rafts... i have also made a tweak to the hull...

Well this is my points of view of the Celebrity ship, the bridge is rounded not as it's shown on the pictures you have put up, it's a small thing, but if you like to have the real deal then you need to round the bridge on the sharp edeges, so it get's more curvy :)....

i know about the bridge, not got around changing it yet...
but it seems that i will have to change some of the elements of the vessel to avoid copy-right...
so it might not be a celebrity ship in the end...

Look at it for a second.....That's a waist of money. I was told that many games don't support 2x graphics cards. Core 2 Quad Extreme is kinda outdated even a 3.2GHz

Sorry but i dont think that will happen... i made this in autodesk maya and i dont think that format is supported and they dont normally take our mods, except for that one time.

Actually, I believe they DO support Autodesk Maya. I think they take almost anything besides Google Sketchup. As for if they'll accept it or not, they try to accept usermade models as often as they can, but very rarely do these things get seen to completion ;D You mainly just have to ask VSTEP.

At VSTEP the main modeling tool is 3DS max, which is also from Autodesk. But file formats ain't the problem here.
Practically any 3D modeling tool has a .3ds .obj or .fbx exporter if not more.
The main issue is if VSTEP has the need to add the new content.
What most people think (and I don't blame them) is when a model is done, it's simply sent to VSTEP and they'll add it. But implementing vessels involves a lot more than just the modeling stage.
Firstly, VSTEP needs permission from the original owner to be allowed to release any vessel if it's non-fictional.
In this case, Celebrity cruises should approve this model.
Then there comes the converting. Dynamics need to be made, walktrough paths need to be laid, functions need to be programmed, and when that's all done, the DLC needs to be prepared and approved by Paradox to release.
This involves much manpower. So VSTEP must have real intentions with the model in order to invest the time and money into it. If someone for example creates a tugboat for SSE, it's not guaranteed if VSTEP is planning to release a tug DLC for SSE.
It doesn't mean it ain't possible to get your vessel inside SSE. Just make sure in advance that there are no legal issues with copyright and that VSTEP has interest in creating the specific DLC.
What is VSTEP planning right now?
Well, firstly they need to get the patch and Inland DLC released. So I cannot say anything yet about future plans. I already did share some ideas with them though. ;)
