Title: Icebreaking mission
Post by: aeronavale on December 19, 2011, 06:06:17
In exploring SS, I found out that manoeuvering caracteristics are very different from ship to another but all ships (boats) seems to have similar sea keeping abilities.
Is it possible to develop a mission on SS that would come close to a real icebreaking mission that would include the caracteristics of a ship going throught an ice field, with resistance to different ice thickness, pressure and difficulties encountered to maintain a course in those conditions?

I'm not into programming but I know enough to see the challenge of building such an environment with so many variables.
I would like to read your opinion on this idea.

Hi

I think that will be a problem cos the SSE have not a icebreaker ship, if you try to tush the Ice all ship will sink, but yes maybe wee need a ice breaker in the future

I'd love to see this implemented, but I think we'd need a proper icebreaker, because even though the esperanza has icebreaking capabilities she's not really suited for icebreaking escort duties...
