Hey guys, before i talk, I just want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a bright and prosperous 2011.
Just last week i've purchase a new laptop over the internet. The specs is as follows:
Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5089
Performance
PROCESSOR*
AMD V Series Processor V140
OPERATING SYSTEM*
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)*
GRAPHICS ENGINE*
ATI® Mobility Radeon™ HD 4250
GRAPHICS MEMORY*
256MB-1405MB dynamically allocated shared graphics memory
Memory and Storage
MEMORY*
3GB DDR3 memory
HARD DRIVE*
320GB HDD (5400rpm)
Audio and Video
DISPLAY SIZE*
15.6" widescreen
DISPLAY TYPE*
HD TruBrite® LCD Display
DISPLAY RESOLUTION*
1366x768 (HD), 16:9 aspect ratio, Supports 720p content
I just want to know if these specs would be enough to run SS08 or maybe SS Extremes. Thanks.
Regards

Hi Jack,
A) What is the clock speed of the processor? 3.0 Ghz is recommended for SSE
B) The ATI Radeon HD 4850 is the minimum requirement for SSE
I suggest you download the demo version of SSE to see how it performs. You may be OK for SS2008

Well the clock speed for the processor is at 2.3 Ghz.

Hi again,
2.3 Ghz will be a low for SSE but OK for SS2008.

Yea well thanks for speculating vin_sin.

Hi Jack,
You're welcome!
You could still give it a shot by downloading the demo versions of both the sims from the shipsim.com website.
SS 2008 is 150 MB and SSE is 602 MB

Hi K Jack,
It's always speculation up to a point, cause there's more to it than just specs.
But 2.3 IS indeed too little, compared to the required 3.0
And the graphics card isn't really the best solution either.
And the RAM is the minimum ammount aswell.
So, I think you should not be hoping for great performance with SSE, I'm afraid. The suggestion to download and try the demo is a good one, I think.
SS08 should be just fine though, under normal circumstances!

Fred

No problem, I wasn't sure if you believed vin_sun or not, due to the speculation remark. ;)

Hey guys long while no see :), sorry if i had to revive this old thread. I'm looking at getting this system soon, could you tell me if it could play extremes. If not, how well should it run SS08, please.
