The good ones are something like £300!

You can't import it into ss08. Maybe one day though ;D

EDIT: There's 3D max. 30 day trial.

First you get some steel, and a dry dock...  :)

I have to recommend blender. Probably the only free example of a professional quality piece of kit (there is a long complicated reason why it became free, but it is fully functional and not a gimmick laden toy like some other free progs). www. blender.org

Its main advantage is the masses of free tutorials and a massive online following, with many forums to turn to for advice.

Stu

EDIT: I'm no expert on blender, but if you have a look and like it. Drop me a line and I'll send all the tutorial links I've found

Hi,

Would Gmax (freeware from Discreet) and a graphics editor like PhotoShop or PaintShop Pro support most of the model and texture formats required for a complete model?  I've built scenery for Flight Simulator 2004, and I think all you'd need is the details on formats, dymanics or simply a conversion tool from the developers to drop it right into the sim.

I don't know how much has been put into supporting "add-ons" for this sim, but whether the developers go with an "add-on Library" or just pick the best of the uploads and include them in the next update, either would be fine with me.

Yours,
:D

P.S. With the introduction of FSX, even Micro$oft is going the way of "*.dds" texture formats.  What format are the models rendered in?

:D
