Title: Update is coming...next year?
Post by: Simpsons05 on September 24, 2010, 21:11:29
Ive waiting all the week, for the update and now I read this...another week...
In my oppinion its really a shame what they do the hole time!!!!
They work on a demo and more and more guys buy this game, cause the demo is fine and they see all the amazing videos (like i did...) and when they have the game at home, when they play it the first time the Incredible happens:
the ship isnt working how it should, it turns the wrong way and on my game-i have the german version- when i want to reset a mission its says:"neu ustarten" its like "new wgame"! No fake! >:(
I have no idea when they start to do their job, but im hoping that we dont have to wait until next year for this update, or better: the update that fixes all our problems and bugs and only let my ship sailing the way I want!

Greetings Simpsons05

Will waiting four or five days or so really make a difference to your life?

I think it is good VSTEP are thinking about it and intend to make sure STEAM users get it at the same time as everyone else etc, otherwise a new wave of moaning would only start. ::)

I'd rather wait longer and have a decent patch over a buggy one, wouldn't you agree?

Mike

At least this delay is a mere five days. The game itself was delayed by quarters of a year at a time. ;)

Post by: Simpsons05 on September 24, 2010, 21:30:18
It will not change my life but maybe it ruins my view to vstep completly...
I think really its a good thing, that they want to purchase this update for all game users, but really - i have no hope that this update will clear all the bugs...
and to your information...my game have so many bugs that for me its impossible to play it on...my ships turn suddenly to a different side and ive no idea why...i have nothing touched- only the up-button, the hole time!
And i wait until the game is released and i think really its a good thing that the update is coming, but why the hell they show a brandnew demo before the update? I cant understand it!!!

Simpsons05

ps: for delay the game quarters of a year it has already MANY bugs, or?
why do you think its another thing with this update...?

Simpsons05,
In part I agree with you....
But let's wait a bit more.
Unfortunatelly the world is not PINK as we use to say this here in Brazil.

The case is; We shall be pattient and wait for VSTEP dedication which they are taking along with such period., Certainlly they won't to have their clients complaining about their product.
Investinments they had made in order to offer a product with quality and now their developing the necessary patch in order to fix any bug, error and or missing behavior of the ship's and its components.

The main consideration that we have to bear in mind is that all necessary support and or doubt answers we are getting through this FORUN between users (SS Mates) and from whole VSTEP TEAM (CMM)

tell me now... Wich mission is your preffered one?

Best regards my friend and all the best  :2thumbs:

Simsons05,

I think you're being quite unreasonable. I mean come on.. do you not have the patience to wait a few more days?

The game is playable, and if you really don't want to play it until the patch comes out, go and do something which isn't on the computer :)

Waiting a bit longer isn't going to end the world, and I'm sure you can wait until next week. Sure it is dissapointing, I can understand that, but creating a new topic just to have a moan is not a good idea and will probably provolk others to do the same :-\

I can play the game easy.
There are some little bugs. Like in a rhib you see trough the waves.
But nothing to serious that i couldnt play the game.

Dont we al have the same game? Maybe its your computer/game settings?

Post by: Simpsons05 on September 25, 2010, 11:18:27
Only to make this clear, i cant play the game, its not so, that i dont want play it, cause i want it, but i cant!
And thats why im so angry!
Like i said, sure the world dont ends in this week and sure its good, that they will release the best update they can create, but they have so many time since the game is on market and they release a demo and new videos and all things like that and im questioning: why?
They have to work on this update and spend all the time on it they have!

Thats my oppinion and it will maybe change if the update is so fabulous like you hope!

Simpsons05

ps @Tavares Junior: I dont really know whats my prefered mission is, cause and i cant play the game further than greenpeace mission four  ::) :'(
(like ive describe in the topic ive created, but no one cares about it...)

This is capitalism, nobody cares for you, but for your money ;)
And my best advice to you is... forget the ******* game and move on with your life....or just wait :)
No, wait...you have to wait anyway, so just move the ** on

What a great pity that you are unable to express yourself without using bad language.
I have removed it.

Simpsons05,
Sorry it was not so clear to me  :-\

Captain Spencer:
His case is really serious.
He paid for the game and now he can't use it!

What kind of immediatelly action VSTEP can take to him?
Now is comming the opportunity to show the VSTEP respect with the clients and customers. Sincerelly it's what we expect for

To Neo-ST,
In one of your posts you aswer on the question"the game is playable" you said "not for everyone".Well,First thing we ask than is put your DXDiag in an additional post. They we can see were some of the problems are.
Most of the common faults are from the capacity of some computers.Maybe they are just at the very minimum requirments for running the game.
Offcource we are also aware of the problems of the game itself, however that part we be taken care of,infact they are allready running on overtime to fix them.
Vstep is a company which has to make money, which is normal. But your opinion that they have the money now on their account, and let everybody behind is not true.
Just look at the way this forum works,we are all busy to help you all out.The problem is that some members have not the patients,so that we can help. You should have a bit more respect to,because we have respect for you.
Your attitude is not helping the forum and the game.To bad.

Hi,
I've already put my dxdiag somewhere in someone's post, but that post has been deleted (can't find it via search). I've also explained my situation already here (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/topic,19860.0.html) and there's nothing else to do but wait for the patch.

Offcource we are also aware of the problems of the game itself, however that part we be taken care of,infact they are allready running on overtime to fix them.

Marc, I understand your efforts to be as good as possible to both Vstep and forum users and I respect that, don't get me wrong. I have shown enough of my respect by not asking for my money back, because, let's be honest, the game is loaded with problems and many of us can't even play it, in other words - it's unfinished. I can't have respect for unfinished products that I paid for, but as I said, I have respect for you because you, along with other administrators, are trying to make the best of this situation and defend Vstep at the same time.
On the other hand, you also have to understand us, the users. How would you feel if you bought a new car without windows? Obviously you can't drive it, would you be respectful to a company that sold it to you even if they tell you "we are working on the problem, next week we will send you the man who will put windows on your car for free, but until then please have patience". Then comes the next week and the man didn't come.
You're German, and German people are perfectionists, you should understand what I'm saying :)
Anyway, no need to argue anymore, we're all waiting for the patch and that's it
Farewell.

Greetings,
Well, i'm not german but Belgian.
Not only shipsim has troubles with first releases, also flightsim of microsoft, and many other games.
We are not defending Vstep, however we try to help the forummembers with some solutions.
Like i said,by many the game is playable, while others have many problems.Look first to your computer,is he capable to even run the game.(DXdiag)might clear some problems if you send it in a post on the forum. We have guy's here who understand the problems and can help.
If your computer is strong enough to run the game, well than its something else.In the time since the release we are knowned by all the problems with the game. But that part will be fixed, also remember that the 2008 version was not running well in the beginning.

I don't min waiting a week or even a month for the patch. I'm sure the game will improve with time once all the bugs are discoverded and fixed. It all takes time and patience. And moaning won't help.

Yes, their is always someone to take care of the problems.Only it is possible that the guy's are not online when you post it.
Post your dxDiag and your post on the technical support, then someone might see it quicker.

And 2008 New Horizon ??? "A patch for New Horizon will translate it in your langage will be disponible in a few weeks." Do you mean : "a patch for New Horizon will be release, in some years, when we get back to work, but we aren't sure that we will do that, you bought so no problem, it didn't change us anything."
Title: Re: Update is coming...next year?

Personally i believe that if this company has any plans to release DLC's for this simulator it should at least be free for the first couple of them due to the sheer dissapointment and false marketing they have done for this title. I feel i have been let down as im sure do others. A games company really does not want to **** their clients of at this stage of a release, do they?? It is the same with any product you buy from a shop shelf if you are unsatisfied with the product or if it is severely faulty then you take it back for a refund!! Those of you who have not had any issues what so ever then your really lucky!but i would say that the people who have had issues and the people who feel that they were miss sold this product due to false advertising have a dam strong point to put forward to the developers and producers of this sim. IMO this Sim was released to early and should have gone through some serious beta testing first instead of relying on your paying clients to do it for you after the release of the title.

Really no point in blasting my personel opinion because thats exactly what it is and certainly not aimed at any of you just the company that has sold this Sim.

Regards.

Edited for language.  If you had to censor it yourself, it wasn't really suitable to begin with. - Fred

I see it a bit like jeanfla...
Cause you see, i posted my crash report in the technical forum, and its there since i get the report, means since a pair of days after i get the game (precice 31.08.)! and there are 20 views and no answer!
And look at this topic: 24 Posts and 1085 views!
Now tell me: who cares about my problems and who cares about my povocable subject?
Iam a little sad about this numbers cause that show me, that my problems are secondary...

Well you're partly right indeed, Dooberry.  :)

But if you had seen how much work the largely volunteer group of beta testers have put into it, maybe you'd grant them a little more credit and respect, cause they didn't cause any bugs. They only found em. Did they found more than could be handled in time, well.. it would seem so, yes. But that doesn't mean there hasn't been rigorous testing by a lot of dedicated volunteers.

And well, indeed.. as with any product, people should have the right to complain if they're not happy, and demand their money back if needs be.

But it's not like Vstep intentionally ticked off their customers. That's the last thing they'd ever want to do, obviously. That's why they're working round the clock to fix the things that are wrong and add new features that people have requested.

There's only two options. Either one waits and sees, and hopes that their expectations are met or approached. Or one takes the game back and demands a refund, like with any faulty/undesirable product one could have bought. And one forgets about it and moves on. There's not much else to do I am afraid.  :-\

But hey, at least you can vent a little on the forum, to get your opinion out, whilst deciding which street to pick.  :P

Fred

Good, thanks Fred, why didn't they write : Ship Simulator 2008 New Horizon language patch. That's intelligent, without writing new horizon, it's not

Maybe because it's not just for NH but was for Shipsim on the whole, so to name it just for NH would not make sense then... I don't know the specifics on that, sorry. But would suppose that was a main reason..

Those keys might now come up as invalid for the next owner, which is an oversight on your part perhaps. I've gone and blocked them, since you won't be playing the game after you got your refund, obviously, cause that would be illegal.

I really cannot believe you can't wait two days at most until the patch is out! Seems a bit nuts in my opinion, give it a try, and then next week if it isn't to your liking then contact VSTEP about refunds.
Title: Re: Update is coming...next year?
Post by: Mad_Fred on September 29, 2010, 19:25:39
It might also be wise to contact support at gamesload.de, I am sure they will have some form of sytem in place for refundsand such. Only, it might be on a time limit after purchase, so it's best to check sooner rather than later, then.

Since you have bought the game there, you could perhaps already get a good answer if you check out their 'house rules', for when it comes to returning a product that's not to your liking.

If that doesn't work, then you can also check with Vstep ofcourse, but since they didnt sell it to you directly, and they are also not the publisher, the 'paperwork' might have to be done over at the actual selling point.

Fred

I guess the general rule is when you purchase a broken product is that the seller can deny a refund if they offer repairs. I wanted to return the game as well, but since I know repairs are coming I decided to give them a chance to fix it. I think you should do that too, and you can certainly wait two more days.

Hi Simpsons05,

I think you should not give up now!
Take a time out of the game and maybe with another game., They are working on the patch it's take longer certainly they won't to have an updated with bugs which may not attend the game's correction in good order as we all and VSTEP wants.
Image that at the other side there are people working.... ;)

Take a time go to a BAR and enjoy it and or enjoy the end of the summer. (Find more things to do)

Or go sailing;

Maybe read a book:

Sincerelly in the midle of 2007 I got the SS 2006 as a gift from a Dutch Friend (A Big Brother to me) www.portpictures.nl after 2 or 3 years of contact through email with him. As at that time I had nor any visa or credit card to buy it on the internet. Then this friend just send me the game, as he knew I was planning to becomes a harbour pilot and this simulator could increase my inspiration on my dream. and later he gave me the SS08 and now I got by myself the SSE.
Sincerelly this is not a case that change my life.... But here is the real friendship that we can build into this forum.

The game is not everything for our daily life but it have to represent something very positive at anyway and anytime to each one of us.

I have no idea how old you are. But I can tell you. I'm at the south of Brazil and for anything what I which to order I have to wait a bit longer every time.... And the life still going on every day..... :2thumbs:

I can't see what the extras are though...

No sign of fixing Freedom 90 so she actually becomes a Hovercraft

Thank god another weekend I can spend on the Work i really should do instead of what i like to do...  :captain:

Maby so close before you release the patch you should freeze it's content by now or you will have the "Tablecloth" effect and while fixing one corner causing damage to another corner. There's still enough left for the 1.3 patch (like the ocean splashing sounds)...

Well, i am looking forward. Still i find it a bit odd that the whole community has to wait for a thing like steam, that we never wanted and lots of us (that are here and keep up to Shipsim since its first version) never will need.

But I see the point of releasing it simultanously of course.

So looking forward for the new 1.2, hope it's coming soon enough.

Markus, if you have to keep spamming and can't be patient for the good of the users and to get as best a patch as you can, then you simply can't be pleased one way or the other.

You posted about the bugs that you want fixed and the things you want to see changed, and then when they are fixing them you don't want to be patient and wait for it.

Well.. I repeat it again. Don't spam! Keep it worthwhile, or don't post at all. You've ran out of credit for these kinda posts, to be honest.

If you're just going to make one word posts with a bunch of smileys, then once again, I'll just keep removing these. Second spam warning, there will not be a third.

Regards,
Fred

I opened shipsim.com today with all my hope and happiness looking for the 1.2 patch!!
I´m a little disapointed now ...  :-\

So, after all the problem was not STEAM. The problem was other fixes.
As some indicated before it would be nice that they release the 1.2 version and 1.3 with this new features. See ya next week ....
Title: Re: Update is coming...next year?
Post by: Mad_Fred on October 01, 2010, 13:24:26
No the problem was not with other fixes alone. That's the wrong conclusion to draw.  ;)

They were made whilst waiting for the rest to be sorted. And I'll leave it to your imagination what the rest was/is.

But since they did have to wait, there were also some more changes/fixes made, that now also takes more time. Just logical really. But it's still the same issue as before.

So its now "next week" and now im happy to play the update! ;D XD

 ??? ???

What? There isnt a patch  ... wow, i had no imagination, that that would happen.....

Well, maybe, the subject i created to provoque wasnt that wrong and we all have really to wait until next year, cause now there is not even a date to release it...

Really i dont understand it! For me that news about this update are only fake, cause when i work on an update and i think im pretty done and i think i can tell everybody a date to release it, then i cant delay two weeks or more, i would release it and these "new features" could wait until the next update, the important thing for me would be that the users can play my game and dont have to wait and to wait and to wait!!!!

I know its only my oppinion, but its the true!! :-\ :-[

Over all I would say that I'm disappointed in the further delay of this update, but fortunately for me I play Second Life and go to school part time and am active duty USCG. In my case there is trouble with the online   multi-player which crashes the game right as you are about to dock your ship/boat. Other than that the damage threshold is far to sensitive which is included in the fix. Everyone that is upset with the amount of time it is taking to release this patch, while I understand your frustration, I find it trivial to loose your cool over a game. Once again I UNDERSTAND the frustration. I cannot stand when I am advertised one thing and given another.

Vstep and forum administrators, I would like to thank you and commend you for your attentive and positive attitude in regards to this topic. It is very difficult to answer some questions that have been posted and I'm sure that everyone dose in fact appreciate the feedback. Please keep up the positive and helpful answers and keep us informed as best you can as to the situation as I'm sure you will.

Best regards

Is out there any chance to VSTEP tell us a ETD (Estimated Time of Delivery) for the patch ????

I really would like to hear from VSTEP an estimation, then I will be waiting for such informed date. This is the point which all users also have to respect....

Sincerelly is a bit hard and is not very clear for all users when theres no estimation date for the new patch.,
Annoucements like next week and next week are just creating confusion between the users and giving ammunition to those whom just want to bombard you all (VSTEP)

guys:
Make a meeting between yourself and finally discuss internally when this patch can be FIRST delivery to the CMM and tested and how long days they need to test it. Then when will be the release date.  ;)

Best regards,

Tavares,

As discussed elsewhere on the forum VSTEP are now the ones waiting to publish the patch. They are waiting on Steam to integrate the patch into their network so that the patch is distributed to all SSE users at the same time.

As for the date, well VSTEP did publish a date, but unfortunately it had to be pushed back because of Steam. VSTEP have been keeping you up to date about the patch, would you rather they didn't? :)

Hi TJ

we all testers have the patch and wee are testing it and it will be finish when it will be realized in next week if all goes as planed, if a exact date are been given well  then all are start again with the nagging, it take time do test and fix, so if you like the hole v-step should answer on the forum instead for working with the simulator, ok but to not complain anymore then if it not will be realized in time

That was Google's translation not mine.  ;D

Speaking of translations, when you said "That's one wicked translation..." I take that as a complement because here in New England wicked means awesome (or really if followed by awesome, as in "This game is wicked awesome!" meaning "This game is really awesome!" So I read your post as "That's one awesome translation...".

So, thanks for the complement!  ;D ;D

Tavares,
Estimates of a release date are a bad idea. For one thing, many on the forum won’t accept them as just that – a guess. Instead they interpret them as promises, and accuse VSTEP of “breaking” a promise.
Others will say the developers are incompetent because they cannot estimate accurately.

No one can say when the patch can be released until it is actually ready to be released. You need only read the many idiotic posts that appear when an estimate has to be revised to understand why VSTEP may be reluctant to make guesses.

Yup, she is wicked awesome!!! ;D

Back on topic... I hope the patch comes out this week. I know (or at least hope!) that V-Step is working hard to produce a "bug free" patch. But I am naturally a very impatience person, so for me this is taking forever to get done! I want a nice patch, so waiting the first week to help the Steam costumers was okay. But adding the additional improvements was too much. Those things could have waited for patch 1.3. Honestly I would not be suppressed if the patch is delayed another week.

Oh well, I hope this patch makes SSE wicked awesome!   ;)
Title: Re: Update is coming...next year?
Post by: Mad_Fred on October 03, 2010, 16:48:05
Well, I don't think a lot of members would agree to have rather waited a month or maybe more for these updates, if they could have waited one more week instead to get it in the coming patch.

Plus, it weren't just the latest updates that took another week. that 'other thing' still isn't sorted as you can read in the news update. But the time is spent wisely in the mean time. The additional updates are an effect rather than a cause. But they will up the quality of the patch a lot.   :)

It's nothing but a scandal if the patch is delayed week after week because of this Steam issue :(

But if the mods are using the update for testing, how does it look, are you pleased with the result? What can we expect?
Title: Re: Update is coming...next year?

Well I can only speak for myself but it's looking pretty good indeed!

You can expect, well, the things that the changelog says, really. Lots things have been addressed.  :P

I hope so. All depends on a person's expectation level aswell.  ;D

It won't turn the game into Nautis, obviously. But a lot of grievances should be history after the patch, indeed!!

As a Beta tester, I too think the wait will be well worth being patient for. Whilst everything that players have mentioned (or complained about) will not be fixed at one go, an awful lot of stuff will be. The game will be good I can promise.

Awwwhh, what a pitty,

the hovercraft is still not hovering.  :'(  That´s what I bought this game for.

But,.. perhaps the reason is obvious... the engine seems to burn. The smoke coming out of the front steeringoutlets indicates some heavy problems. Back to base,.. fast. But,.. still not able to beach.. okay, got to have patience.

So, let´s keep a hand of water under our skirt.
