Title: 'Manual/User Guide' not included in boxed version
Post by: Ronalien on August 31, 2010, 09:15:27
Hi,

I ordered my boxed version through the shipsim-website (on 24th August 2010). My version didn't include a printed manual.
I've read that some boxed version do include a manual. So obviously some versions of the game got a printed manual as others didn't.
Is it possible to get a printed manual from vstep? I ordered the boxed version because I like to have a box and a nice printed manual.

Greetings,
Ronny

Your not the only one who did not get a printed manual. It seems the Vstep boxed version only has a PDF version of the manual.

I add my 2cents worth here also.
Where do I find a manual for this version. Biggles75 mentioned a pdf version. I have hunted around but there does not appear to be any instructions, pdf or otherwise.
What does one do in this case?

Hi all,

The manual should be on the DVD disk. If you browse to your SSE installation directory you should find it in there :)

The manual is in the \Projects\ShipSimExtremes\Docs folder of your game installation map

It should really have been made clear that the boxed VStep product did not contain a printed manual at point of sale as that is often the main reason customers buy boxed rather than downloadable software.

I too ordered the boxed version in hopes of having a printed manual. Seems a bit short sighted that i have to search the forums for where to find it... pdf or otherwise. :'(

If you have ordered boxed version from Vstep you will not have the printed manual. I sent an e-mail to Vstep and the answer was:

"Dear Sir,
Shipsim Extremes was created working together with Greenpeace. Who had chosen as most ecological safe environment procedure not include hard copy manuals in Shipsim Extremes production."

Agree with you there, that was the main reason I ordered the boxed version! To have a manual!  :-\
Yet it was not mentioned, had that been the case I would have got a download version  >:(

Pfft  >:(  Surely if Greenpeace are so good at what they do they could have at least used an environmentally friendly paper that has been recycled lots of times and have a stamp of approval.
That would have been more economical, so I'm sorry to say I will be printing it off onto recycled paper but now have to use ink cartridges which totals the same finished product as a normal manual.
That is just barmy!
It's not so hard to source environmentally friendly paper you know.
What on earth do you use when you want to print off leaflets for events etc, hey Greenpeace?
Here's a good site for you: http://www.rainforestinfo.org.au/good_wood/envf_pap.htm
And check your own site, you even recommend friendly papers to use there!!
What about those few euros of donation I gave you? Does that not count for anything? Can't you source friendly paper from that?

Sorry for getting annoyed, only I wondered why I had no manual and then to find out why   :'(  :'(  :'(

Kind Regards

Matthew

Well, they are right..  A manual on the DVD is the most environment friendly..
Unless you want something to read in the bathroom, and even then there is a solution.. ;D

No i can't proint it because i just have a canon MP640R i don't have a DocuColorâ„¢ 7002/8002. Next time write it on the website with another information : "Box don't include manual, aren't(the box) in the langage of the country if you want a good game, wait to buy because we go too quickly"
EDIT = _ put an O but i have to put an o
EDIT2 : _ put an E but i have to put an e
EDIT : delete the quote

I actuly think this is a great idea!

be honest now how many people actuly read the instructions, or after a while but them in the bin or just store them away and never read them again!
