i've never heard of a ship simulater before.. was just browsing a sim to buy and saw this was released today! I take it there's a lot of playability in these games? Also do you need to be like a fully qualified sailor to be able to use the controls on them lol

Hi meeky, welcome..No, you don't need to have any boating experience..
But you can practise on many various kinds of ships, either by yourself, in multiplayer, or in missions..
I would recommend it if you like ships and boats, it's a great simulator.. :thumbs:

A normal dvd should fit a dutch mailbox. But I don't know or it's a package. So wait for both. And you will see ;D

Let's not speculate just yet as to for whom the patch is. Cause I suspect it's only for a certain (early) version.
This patch, is probably meant to get the earlier paradox box version up to speed with the download version, which -because it need not go to a printer and distributor- is probably already developed a bit further at the moment. (I can confirm mine is already V1.1 without patching).
This patch might thus then turn the V1.0 box version to V1.1, whilst the Download that is available tomorrow might already be V1.1 from the get-go. This might just be for the early V1.0 steam version, as seen in that one video.
However, this is also part speculation on my part. But I have inquired as to what's up with this patch. I am suspecting this to be the case though. I'll inform you here if I have an answer. Or perhaps Vstep will already point out what the deal is, tomorrow.

Correct :thumbs: But only some versions, Paradox versions will need an update but I beleieve VSTEP versions are already V1.1. but do check beforehand what you need by looking at your build :)

If you didn't buy the steam paradox version, yes, as other versions do not rely on Steam.
If you buy the steam version, I presume it won't be possible to install the game without Steam.

Hi Gents...I'm not a Paradox/STEAM rep, but nevertheless it's almost 100% sure that it has to do with the fact that the game will only go live on STEAM this afternoon/evening (CET). They're in Seattle so takes them some time to get this rolling as they're still asleep now.

See your bibliotheque if it is empty try the key if it say you that another people got this game it is the same bug as me that i have with another game.

Thanks for that I am having the same problem. You'd think that Steam would now as a global enterprise be a 24/7 operation. When I looged on last night over 1.8 million people were playing on their network, can't they afford night staff yet on those kind of numbers? Support tickets can also take 3-4 days to be answered pretty bad for customer relations. Whilst Steam is without question technically the best digital distribution network it's the human side that seems to be letting it dowm

They should have a EU office. You'd think they'd have the budget for it! Anyway, activation can come anytime between 17:00h-23:59h CET. Let's hope it's earlier than later.

You don't lose many, play ss08. The games graphism(i know i repeat) are bad if you compare of game of 2008/2009/2010 don't look homepage screen look real in game pictures.
Note : i will retire all my post on the graphism if like you say it is ameliored prochainly with wake and bow waves in 3D.

You have been warned by Frank in a previous post and have already been told the reasons why the game does not quite match the screenshots posted some time ago.
It is NOT illegal to change the visuals in a game, and although these features would have been very welcome, we would surely have people complaining about performance issues should they have been left in ;)

I'm not sure it's legal if we put a MAGNIFIC pictures with bow waves and wake in 3D and after in the game the wake and the bow waves are like in ss08.

O SS08 style (quickest)
O New style (slower)
Wake :
O 3D
O 2D
Object details :
O Highest quality
O High quality
O Medium quality
O Bad quality
Why didn't you think at this system example in sims 3 there is taht and it can be beautiful(highest option) or ugly(bad quality)
Every game is like that you imagine people like me who have a very good computer will be happy. I can't understand you do all that work to throw it in the bin. I esper you have keep the code to do that and you will add the options i say.
I only say all that to help improving the quality of game by a simple option. Maybe you can put that in patch 1.2. I hope you will look and say that suggestion to developper.

We are open to all suggestions. I just think you are expecting even more than the best. That is of course very difficult to match.
As you will find out SSE already has configurable visual settings, and playing on high quality will give you very nice graphics. Much better than SS08.

personnatly i don't see the difficulty it's just a new radiobutton and a function to call by a signal, so because you say me you did this fonction you just have to say (if you give it this name):
newWakeAndBowWavesSystem();
And graphism quality
I don't see the diddiculty if i already do this function of wake and bow waves i don't see why you don't add a new radiobutton for graphism (object, waves, etc) do you really already prepare this function or it is modifyed pictures?

That feature.. was developed, then it was tested.. and then unfortunatly found to be too resource heavy.
Thus.. it needed to be tuned down, to ensure the more important parts of the game, could function properly too.
What part of that do you not understand?

Ahh that's a better explaination, i understand why didn't they have. It's not the same explaination the old we say me was that some PC aren't powerful for that. I esper they will found the solution and post it. If the release trailer is real than tha game is good. Excellent when their will be a patch

you should contact Steam. you can`t install a game twice if it is from Steam. they have to reset the code.
but tell your problem to Steam and they`ll help you out :thumbs: but it could take a while before they awnser your question.

But i used the download method.. "Ship Simulator Extremes - Regular Edition" <- that one. And it didnt go through steam or anything.. so i cant see the problem why i cant play it now :s

Steam isn't accepting the keys just yet.
Steam is sticking to their own business hours, not European time.
That means that later tonight, around 21:00 CET, they will start their activation.
Then, all activation should go through okay!
So a bit more patience please, unfortunatly.

Steam tends to update about 8PM UK time. However they have been known to update at 6PM so you'll just have to keep checking. :captain:

Hi Danny,
There are various different types of copies of the game. Some which were published by Paradox, some published by others. If you have a copy of SSE that utilises the steam client then you will have to wait until this evening when Steam allow license key activations.
So either way, you will still be able to play the game :)

If you have the paradox version, you need to activate it with steam, yes.
All paradox ones have this.
Other versions come with an 'old fashioned' way. License key suffices with those.

Thanks, my specs are good for this game since i allready played it (pirated version) then i decided to buy the game to support the developers.. and it worked fine yesterday (that was the paradox version). But today when i was gonna try it i had the same problem as i have now with the legal version :/

As I already posted somewhere else. It's a shame:
A lot of people spent their money on a piece of software. And the only thing they could do so far is starting Steam over and over again and type in their cd-code just to read "you already own the software" or "Your code is invalid".
Is it a surprise, that this software is available today? Is it impossible to activate the license one day earlier? Is it a surprise that the 27th of august does not start at the same time over the world?
So thats all for now. I need to type in a cd-key ;)

As already discussed the Steam company are currently sleeping due to timezone differences. They're not going to go to work at midnight to flick the 'switch'.
Just be patient, you only have to wait a little longer :)

The code should have 5 groups of letters separated by a "-". It should be either on the back of the case or inside the case on the manual or card :)

Anyway, if you have SS2008 you could play that, SSE looks exactly the same just with different missons and some new ships. SOOO much re-used content and false advertising, tricking people into buying their product a 2nd time if you bought any earlier shipsim.

FYI;
Vstep nor Shipsim have anything to do with Valvue/Steam being late. They have no control over them.
So why not send them an email, instead? They have a support staff too. Takes about the same ammount of time as posting here about it, where nothing can be done, and maybe if they get enough of them, they will get the point... ;)

I purchased SSE from gaming planet last night. Everything downloaded and installed with no probs at all. I launched the sim, adjusted all video settings to 100% and I couldn't be more satisified. With 12 gig ram and 6 gig video, the grsaphics are awesome with no lag.
I couldn't be more happy!

Steam is a software that can be downloaded from http://store.steampowered.com/ (http://store.steampowered.com/). If you don't have the software, you didn't get it from Steam, and don't have the "version". It's as simple as that.
