Post by: tonibamestre on August 16, 2010, 16:47:53
Hi All,

What do you tell me about the development of a Watson Class for SSE Shipyards?

Might be, but the chance will be very low

There always hope for this ship and all others requested for SSE on this forum!
IN the future when its time for an SSE addon, all these ships could be included with lots of newer ports too  :2thumbs:

Kindest regards

Hello!

I like the idea.  The ship is intersting, looks great for the hard oceans...

AS I'L SAY, THERE IS ALWAYS A HOPE!!

No one can know what we will see in "The Shipyard", or some "Add-On", so all positive!

Kind regards.

Hi guys,

I'm pretty sure the US Navy is not going to give permission, to be honest.  :-\

They're not really forthcoming with these kinda things, I would think.  :)

Why not? There already have been many games featuring US Navy ships/ subs eg USS Ticonderoga, USS John Young, Strike Fleet, PHM Pegasus, Operation Spruance, Harpoon Classic, Harpoon Adbvanced Naval warfare, Silent Hunter 1 & 2, Tom Clancy's SSN, 688 Attack Sub, 688 Hunter Killer, Fleet Command, Red Storm Rising, Destroyer, Destroyer Command etc etc etc. Honestly this permission thing is getting out of hand, I can understand it when dealing with commercial companies who don't wish their logos used indescriminately but not so much with public institutions like navies. The Sonalysts games were originally developed using publically available Jane's data whilst the current releases feature unclassified USNI (US Naval Institute) data.

Well, one can only approach another, and present an idea and proposal.

The rest is up to the owner of the ship. And if they say no, they say no.

But since the USCG did not even want their logo used, them I suspect big brother Navy won't offer their ship, perhaps.

Just my thoughts on it.

It's rather sad that the USCG refused as it would have been a tremendous marketing/recruitment tool for them and a good way to show the tremendous range and variety of tasks their ships undertake, well done Greenpeace an organisation with enough vision to see the benefits here.

Having served in the US Navy years ago, I've found that those who are in charge of things, aren't always the brightest folks around.  A lot of them wouldn't know a good recruitment tool if you hit them with it.  The problem now is that we have an anti-military government here in the states and the ones who are supposed to be running the various military branches are trying to run them like a business, and you can't do that.

What can I say, I'm a crusty old vet from the Nam era.
