Post by: Unbreakable on July 09, 2010, 10:21:54
I really want to play this game, but am worried it will not work, Ship Simulator 2008 works flawlessly on my comp when i have other things running, my specs are a little below, but do you think it would still work? Cheers.

Hello Undreakable, welcome on the forum, have fun!

Well, here are the system requirements for Ship Simulator Extremes:

Operating system:   Windows XP (Min. service pack 2), Windows Vista or Windows 7.
32 and 64 bits OS supported
Memory:   2GB (Windows XP) or 3GB (Vista or Windows 7)
Processor:   3 Ghz P4 Intel or AMD equivalent processor
Video card:   Geforce 8800GT or ATI Radeon 4850 with 256MB ram (At least Shader model 3.0)
Hard disc space:   3,5GB
Drive:   4x PC DVD-ROM
Input controllers:   Mouse with scroll wheel
Sound:   DirectX 9.0c compatible
DirectX:   Version 9.0c
Controller:   Optional controller support DirectX 9.0c compatible
Internet:   Broadband Internet connection required for Multiplayer

You can check all about it here: http://www.shipsim.com/products/shipsimulatorextremes

Well, my opinion is that it will work, but maybe there will be some problems with loading because the RAM memory isn't enough. But also these is not expensive, so you can upgrade it easly.

But i'm positive, i think it will work!

Kind regards.

Well I see there that it states you have 2.2 Ghz processor speed.
SSE has a minimum requirement of 2.4 Ghz.

But to be honest I believe that when you uninstall SS08 to make room for SSE, it will free up a lot of space on your computer.

Because on the internet it states my laptop as having 2.4 Ghz, yet when I take a look through system settings, I only have 2.2 Ghz which isn't enough to run SSE, so once I uninstall it then it sould theoretically go to 2.4 Ghz again so I would be ok to play SSE.

I'm hopefully guessing that your computer is the same

Unless anyone else thinks slightly differently?

Many Kind Regards

Ahoy Unbreakable,
First of all: Welcome to the Forum, the place to be when You need Help.
Unfortunate, for any TECHNICAL Help you have to register your copy of Ship Simulator first.
To do so, go to 'Profile' in the Orange/Yellowish Bar on top of this screen and enter your Serial Number on the requested space. You'll find that number either on the back of the booklet which comes with the boxed version, or when You bought and downloaded the game at the VSTEP-Homepage please refer to the email which You recieved from VSTEP after paying for your copy. The serial number would be in that email.
When you have registered your copy, come back here and attach your DXDIAG (just click on Save all Information on the DXDIAG screen, You'll find it then on your desktop), so we can give you more information.
Kind Regards
Aad the Pirate

I have an ASU M4A78 mainboard with an AMD Phenom II X3 processor, with 4 Gigabyte RAM memory and a Nvidia Gforce 9400GT video card with 1024 MB video memory on board. My OS is Windows XP SP3.

Is my system suitable for playing ShipSim Extremes?

Ahoy mokmok,
I'm almost sure it will. But to be sure, add your directX Diagnostics to a message. I did send a PM to you, explainig how.
BTW, did you know/realize that under Windows XP only 3 GHz Memory will be recognized?
Kind Regards

I know that, because 32bit Windows XP only supports 3 Gigabayte of RAM memory.

Here I will give you the DXdiag-file.

Ahoy mokmok,
I can't find any reason in your DxDiag why Ship Simulator Extremes would not run on your system  .
Only about a month and a half and we can enjoy the new born Vstep Product (can't wait, but have to).
