Watt the point, 22 man run after a ball, they catch it and continue to run after it and then they chick it to a man in something they call a goal but he will not have the ball and chick it out to the other again :doh: an then all starts from the beginning again :o ???

I can see why those people who do like football can like it, as it's about supporting your team. What I don't like is how much those footballers get paid, and the mayhem football fans will create when their team looses.
That's why I don't like football - but I do watch the odd game here and there :)

To be honest I'm not much of a sports fan myself, and only watch the special events occasionally..
I'll follow the Dutch team with some interest, and maybe some other games that look exciting.. :)

A few observations so far: The ball is strange..All the long shots on goal go way off target..
Also it seems the players can't coach/communicate with each other because of the noise of the vuvuzelas..

Hi Saltydog, Indeed ! A whopping goalkeepers error or blunder. I would agree ! Though don`t you think that maybe the `Butterfingers Green` comment is a bit on the merciless side ? How many of us can honestly say that they have NEVER made a `blunder` of one sort or another ? Sometimes pretty silly too ! I would say "Not a single one of us" , and that anyone who begs to differ would be telling `porkies`. In fact each and every one of us goes through life making constant and repeated errors or mistakes. It happens ! It`s `Life`!
Now ! You should go and apologise to `Butterfingers Green`. I was very sorry for him myself. Just imagine being in his place. He must have felt absolutely awful !

To blame the fact that England failed to beat a side which they should (on paper) have easily beaten on a single error by the goalkeeper belies the fact that the whole team were generally lacklustre and mediocre.
While i can't think of any single player who had a particularly bad game I would struggle to single out one who had a good game either with the possible exception of Aaron Lennon.
All I can say is "Come on Slovenia!" :P

I really feel a bit sorry for the keeper, you wouldn't wish that to anyone. I was just imagining what I thought the English tabloids would be saying about him. And I agree clanky, to put the result down to that one mistake would be unfair, the whole team was dissapointing. Still, it's just the first game. England and USA still have good odds to go to the next round.. :)

When shooting the "Jabulani" on goal, don't aim for the goal.. Aim 7 feet below and 10 feet beside the goal.. ;D

To be totally honest, then I think that most of us if offered the chance to become overnight millionaires for simply playing football [or whatever] would grab that chance with both hands. But morally YES ! I do agree with you.
There are people in the armed forces, people at sea, people in all kinds of dangerous occupations, risking their lives daily for `mere buttons` [in comparison]. There are people who devote their lives fully to the benefit and help of others often getting meagre pay and little if any thanks. The reality of footballers and other `sportsmen` and entertainers of various kinds actually becoming virtually `overnight` millionaires for really doing nothing more than simply following their favourite hobby or `pastime` really does make a travesty of such concepts as `Just` rewards and `true values`etc. BUT ! Do we not live in a crazy world, with crazy systems created and implemented by crazy societies holding crazy and `screwed up`values ?
Try to be happy, IF THEY`LL LET YOU !

Because half the stadium are blasting horns that deafen you to the point of mind blank. Look at Brazil and Portugal, the best teams in the world and they didn't score a single goal today, their play looked like they didn't know what they were doing at all.

We got to the finals in '74.. and '78 aswell.
The first was won by Germany with a 2-1 victory, and the other by Argentina with a 3-1 victory. But we've never made the finals again since then. This is already the most succesful tournament for us since '78... ;D
So congrats on this win, my fellow 'oranje fans!' ;D
But.. we never won though..

I'm not sure that I could go as far as saying that Spain deserved to win, but Holland definitely deserved to lose. They seemed to set out with the intention of kicking Spain off the park, a long way away from totaal voetbal!

I have to agree, the Dutch were very lucky not to be down to 9 men before half time, it was really shocking :thumbdown: I thought the English referee was very poor, did anyone hear the crowd booing when he went to collect his commerative medal on the podium? He deserved that, I think.
Oh by the way I have just won £20 (€23) in my work's World Cup sweepstake - I picked Spain out of the bag :2thumbs:

The Final dont was a good match but the spanish has won this.
I think the nederlands have fight for the WC Pokal but at this night not Enough, (sorry for this)

It wasn't a very good match, and the Dutch played a bit too rough at times, but it was exciting to the end.
The ref wasn't much worse than others, though he should have given a corner in the last minutes.
Who knows who would have won had it gone to a penalty shoot-out.
But all in all, I guess the better team won. Still, we are proud of our guys, and the Dutch team will get a grand welcome with a canal tour tomorrow. :)

I have to say I agree with a few people here about the "dirty playing"...I can understand Holland wanting to really get in there, but it was a bit too much I think.
