Title: Handling observations
Post by: ADDUBYA on August 03, 2007, 22:43:49

When using the tug's bow I have noticed that if you put a tug on the starboard bow of a ship and go all stop on the tug, the ship's bow will slowly swing to port. It should be the opposite. Same is true of other bow tug as well.

Also the rate of turn comes off far too fast on the large ships without any counter rudder applied.

A loaded tanker with a high rate of turn will run from you if you only put the rudder at midships without applying opposite rudder to slow or stop the swing.

I have also noticed this with large ships.  Even in my days with the Canadian navy handling the destroyers & smaller mine sweepers, midships followed by an opposite rudder command was always used to prevent sever over shooting of the heading you needed.

You are right, cdfuture41!

That was one of the important things, which esp. the moderator groennegaard  asked the developers to change and - the patch will show this - they try hard to fulfill his and your demands!

Cheers
