Ahoy Ship(sim)mates
We know a lot from each other. In another thread we told one another where we from, what we see from our (office)window, what our favourite ships are, how old we are etc.
But almost nobody knows how we look.
So here's my request:

Well I haven't got many digital shots of myself to be honest, since most camera's burst into flames when I am photographed, but here's a few 'band shots';
And older (and sweaty) one, from when I still played bass, and a more recent one from a radio gig a few months ago. ;D
And a good idea, Aad.. It's nice to put faces to names. Or vice versa... :)

I have not posted other than to ask for help (which was excellent by the way, thanks). I have wanted to post and see if there are more professional mariners among us, I thought this might be a good opportunity since everyone is participating in show and tell. I am a Barge Engineer for Noble Drilling based out of Houston, TX. I have worked on Drilling rigs for the last 12 years and am just getting into the shipping end with some of my license conversions. I hold a USCG OIM/Barge Supervisor, and is the equivalent to the captain on moored semi's. I have transferred within the last year (I actually work on the 3rd bingo 9000 hull of the OceanRig Eirik Raude design...but that is probably another post). I am going through a program at a maritime academy in Baltimore to acquire my unlimited Third's, and upgrade to my Masters ticket. Oh well, enough about me, I will be interested in hearing what everyone else is into.

This is a good point though.
This topic was made so we could see what we all look like, to put names to faces, and vice versa.
Aad has requested to keep the chatter to a minimum, so I would like to request the same thing.
Post pictures here of what you look like. And a bit of chatter isn't bad, we can comment on each other's pictures, but I would think that right is more or less earned after one partakes in the correct form by also showing thier own face, however ugly it might be.. ;D

I never stated that chatter about the placed pictures is in appropriate. In fact, I do so by saying 'thank you' to those guys who do share their pictures.
Bu I have seen too many topics bleeding to death as result of just IDLE chatter. Meaning chatter that has nothing to do with the thread at all.

Here's one of me back in 2005. I was the house guitarist at the 'Liverpool Jazz Club' for about a year, and I loved every second of it! Well, Fee's in Fleetwood here are costly, to keep Mary, it costs around £1,400 a year. Maintainence on Mary is high (as she's an old boat, wood etc.), and to actually have her there on Hard standing doing nothing is "dead money" really :'(
As you say, boats are very costly to run and keep, in the last month or so, many boats have left the marina, because of rising costs :'( Mary is yet another victim :-[

I guess that problem is everywhere. Overhere people start renting their boat to other people when they arent sailing with it. Creative way to reduce the costs!

I've had a boat sitting in my garage for I don't know how many years, maybe 5 years.?
My mum wants my dad to sell the boat, but we just don't have the time to do it, and we don't use it. It would actually be better if we sold it, because to get to the washing machine and dryer takes walking around the whole boat ;D.

We know a lot from each other. In another thread we told one another where we from, what we see from our (office)window, what our favourite ships are, how old we are etc.
But almost nobody knows how we look.
So here's my request:
Place Your picture On the site!
I'll start:
Picture is singular.. Means one.. ;)
Seriously, we don't mind if people post some more, if and when they have added value, but you've posted way more than anyone else and it's beginning to look like a 'look how cool oceandream is' topic, instead of one where we can just see how people look. We know you by now, job well done. Time to let it rest indeed, untill you've either drastically changed appearance, or you have something that's really going to add value to the topic. ;)
And I must say, instead of imposing a rule upon everyone else, maybe we can agree on a 'fair use policy', meaning the staff will delete any pictures from people who overstep the fair use of this topic. So, let's not turn this topic into a facebook page where every few days someone shows us where he or she was. That stuff belongs on the social media, not on this forum.
If you like photography and taking self potraits, well, feel free to open another photography topic about it in the hobby corner (http://80.95.161.114/shipsim/forum/index.php/board,123.0.html), there you can post as many pictures as you like in your own topic, no problem.
