Hi everyone, I know there's lots of forum games already, but an idea came into my head about a game involving images.
The way it works is this:
One person posts a Black and White image, then, one of us has to tell whether or not the image was originally coloured, then edited to make it black and white/old looking. Who ever gets it correct gets to go next, and the circle starts again (Like Ship Sim trivial pursuit)
Also, like SS Trivial Pursuit, if a person hasn't posted an image within 1 hour, another person can go. Only difference is, its 1 hour, insted of 2 :)

Hehehe Im no English major or a mathematition (spelled it wrong :doh: ) But usually it is easy to tell unless JACK is a pain and does his amazing graphic edits :lol: Then it is difficult to tell. A hint is look at the quality of the pic, like droplets on llamalords arent realistic in my opinion :P Just look closely youll get it ;)

Actually I knew something was fishy, well irony in this case :doh: ::) :lol: No I really did see something I was going to mention that it looked like the VS model I downloaded :P I just didnt say it cause if I was wrong everyone would say I was blind ;D Honestely it looked like a model, because A. it was so clean B. Because nothing really stuck out like antennas and what not hehe

Very nice, I can positively identify the Normandie, and the original Queen Elizabeth. I think that one is real, if not, a rare shot indeed.

I'd say thats a real image. As in, even though it's black and white, I'd say that's the original one. (Unless it has been edited previously). It's too focused to be old, I think.

Fake. Missing smoke from the back stack.

Real. BSM, just because there is no smoke doesn't mean that it is fake. It just means that it is a dummy stack. And it could also mean that those boilers linking to that stack are not on. That has nothing to do with weather it is real or fake.

Firestar is wrong and bsm2003 is right of it being fake, not because there is no smoke from the back stack. This was a colored picture of the German liner which sank in between Adolf Hitler's death and the end of WWII, the SS Cap Arcona with a death toll in the 7000s.

Hmmm.....I think it's fake, I may be wrong, but I would of thought you'd of been nocked off your feet if that thing flew so close. And plus, It would be illegal to get that close I think.

To Tore's ...its unlikely a man would be standing there as a fighter jet was about to cut him in two...and it racing by like that I find unlikely I think the video itself is real but the guy standing there is fake...in other words edited in...therefore making the whole thing fake :P

It's a re-built Castle class... I don't know any way of telling the three sisters apart though (guess it's Cowes)

An Audacious class carrier of the Royal Navy... Keel laid 1943... the era of B&W... However, it has a large radar dome on the island, which suggests it was after its mid life rebuild... tricky...
Yet some early aircraft... even more tricky...
COLOUR originally, circa 1967-1970. So- FAKE.
EDIT: this is BEFORE the conversion... (no catapault extensions) so I've changed my mind, if that's allowed, to 'true' that is it was originally black and white.

Rendering a color photo in black & white (actually grayscale) does not make it fake, if it is otherwise a true representation of the actual scene.
B&W is a good choice for this picture, whether shot on silver or reduced from a digital image. It captures the mood better than it probably would in color.
If you argue that reducing to grayscale makes it a fake, then you must accept that any rendering that does not have perfect color balance is also a fake.
