Is there any videos of someone playing fsx with ships? Looks really nice. What can you controll in it? Can you use the radios and the plotters? It seams that you can control lights and hatches, etc...

I love the bow-wash on the Orca vid. That's something I'd like to see in a future iteration of shipsim (along with a nice wake ;)).

I didn't know boats where in Flight Simulator though?!

Just now seen the Smit Rotterdam video for it. I think that's one ship that should be in Shipsim, one of the most legendary tugs!

So what do you see in the plotter and radar screen? Can you interact with them? And how would you compare the FSX to ship sim regarding realism in controlling the ships?

The pirdges look really astonising. I just hope that there is some functions in them.

Hey all,

I've played around with some ships in FS2004, but they were merely eyecandy as far as I was concerned,
because they behaved like you were taxiing an airplane on tarmac.

But I haven't tried any in FSX though, have any of you done so? And if so, how do the ships sail in FSX? Is it still the same in terms of feeling like taxiing and is the ocean still merely a flat surface as if you were on tarmac, or is there a (somewhat) decent wave system that makes the ships actually behave and move like ships?

Cheers!

Fred

Can you make FS2004 ships AI vessels?  If so how?  All I can think of is creating lots of airports with docks where the harbors should be.

I don't know to be honest. All I ever did was sail around a few minutes with each one, admiring the 3D model but that was about it, as the control was just silly.  :)

Yes, there are indeed a lot of beatiful models out there. I wouldn't mind to get them into SS someday.  ;)

I find it remarkable how well Flight simulator does their reflections.  SS is still better though. ;D

If it was so easy..why isn't it so easy for VSTEP to do the same?

Not much info to find about the author or how he works..not even any business information. ???

I had contact with the Ulstein company when I did try to make AX102 (X-bow). They even wanted me to stop my whole project. I was completely not allowed to use their logo or name in any way.
I tried to get agreement trough another person that was working for Ulstein but it didn't work.
So that's why I'm so curious about this...

Very nice models indeed..but does he know what he is doing? :P

It would be verry nice to have a x-bow ship in the game from Ullstein.

That model from the Bourbon Orca is unbelievable!
