Beach Volleyball in the rain ranks with Mountain Unicycling as a crazy sport.

Post by: The Captain on August 11, 2008, 00:31:09
Beach volleyball isint bad. Exept every time the ball is passed there is usually a point for one team ;D.

Unicycling? Isint it mountain biking?

Today it rained during the NV/US Beach Volleyball match. Besides making the ball slippery, it tends to turn the court to mud or quicksand. It appeared to throw Boersma off his game.
Oregonians now do their mountain biking on unicycles, perhaps to show the Kiwis that we are just as crazy when it comes to weird sports.

Ohh, it did? I was not watching the volly ball match today. But, I did see the basket ball match between USA and China. Man, what a game! 101 to 69! WE creamed them ;D!

I guess they are crazier. Just a guess from the info you just told me ;D.

I think some thing about the american precession uniform this year makes them look like Rich Yachtmen from the 1920s. ;D

The opening ceremony was INCREDIBLE!! I watched the rowing today. It's amazing how coordinated the team rowers are with each other.

Indeed. Did you know that the opening ceremony was the most expensive in history? You diddn't have to guess to know that ;D. The opening ceremony cost 300 million dollars :o. The ceremony was also voted the best ceremony in history!

That was a close race last night, between USA and the French :o. The water olympics is what I was talking about. The French quoted when they were asked" What of the Americans?" The French responded" The Americans? We are going to smash them! That is what we came here for." In last nights 4x men 100 meter water race, the Americans that were supposed to be crushed, wound up crushing the French by 7/10ths of a second :o! Once again, team USA has won the race, and our national anthem is the one that we heard last night :).

I think you may mean “procession” M’Lord. If they precessed, they might wobble as they walked, or fall over when they turned a corner.

Nope precessionists are planets and slowing-down gyroscopes and the like.

By the way, Marty. I thought we'd agreed that extreme ocean-going kayak ironing was the pointless sport?

Yes, Terry, but mountain unicycling will be an Olympic sport when the games are held in Kathmandu.

Yes, Terry, but mountain unicycling will be an Olympic sport when the games are held in Kathmandu.

But with the ice-caps melting and the almost-inevitable 300 ft wall of water that will engulf us, kayak ironing may be universally available...  :(

In England, we are born with a brick on each foot when it comes to winter sports. That makes us excellent at curling but dreadful at skiing.

Our national hero was "Eddie the Eagle" who we worshipped for being absolutely useless at skiing, although he represented us in the Olympics as he was the best we had. He was so dreadful it was hilarious.

I think there are way too much different (but still similar) swimming events, it would be fair if in track&field they would have 50m, 75m, 100m and 125m sprints with normal running, sideways running and backwards running + relays in the same style and changing styles between legs.

They should drop everything else and allow just free style swimming 100m, 200m and 400m + relays in the olympics. In world championships they can add swimming with jeans on or whatever, I don't care :)

Well, in the water realays, they usually have a 400 meter one when the final arrives. They do pre finals just to test the racers.

Speaking of the water relays, team USA broke a new world record AGAIN! And, they broke it by 2 seconds. The world record line was a full body length behind!

Indeed. There is a commercial that say" Meichael phelps doesn't have gills. He isint part dolphin. But then again, if you look at the right moment, and the light is just right...... Visa, a proud sponsor of the olympic games, and the only card accepted there" ;D.

Ha, I did not notice that ;D. I will have to look for that tonight. I think that if michael phelps was the only american athelete in swimming, he would be able to be on his 4th lap while everyone else is still on their second ;D.
