Oh it was funny, not for the people on board though. I was happy when I hit a big wave on my uncles boat, and had some HUGE spray because I hit it then rammed it full reverse so the splash would go straight up and coming down would be more of the bow into the water, luckily my parents were sitting on the bow lounge and got soaked. :D

when drive my boat if you take a hard right turn you can stick you hand above the windshield and you can touch the water.  I have very good handling

Isn't it cool when you do that and you move directly sideways for like 5 seconds and your boat is vibrating. :P

Not to mention the speed limit in my lake is 40... :-\

My boat can do 70 though. :)
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Agent|Austin on August 10, 2008, 07:37:51
There is non were my uncle is, but there is a neighborhood rule of speeds, 40knts on the weekend and as fast as you want during the week. Ours could go 50MPH but we couldn't really try it out at that lake because it is so small, but it is still fun.

Llamalord what type of prop do you have..  I am in need of a speed prop

Wow I will be surprised if a prop boat can go that fast. Well really I have never seen a prop boat go very fast. Most of the boats I have seen are jet boats. And the prop boats I see are never going full speed.

How many of you guys have those ugly "Party Barges" on your lakes? They look like a piece of plywood with two pontoons and a outboard.
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Capt. Le Velle on August 10, 2008, 07:49:38
i dont live near a lake.  But i use a pontoon boat and a carolina skiff for crabbing but my pontoon boat looks nice i have no plywood on mine.  and the prop boat you said are you talking about the inboard prop or the outboard and the stern drive.  My chapperal is a stern drive and they are really fast
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Agent|Austin on August 10, 2008, 07:52:49
any with a prop. the problem with props in this lake is there is this one person that cuts all the weeds on the shore, and they drift out on the boats and you get it around your prop, with a jet boat we got weeds in ours when we went near shore (so close our depth meter didn't read since it only works at 3' +) to help tow a friend to the ramp and got weed in our intakes and our port engine overheated, then we cleaned out the intakes, almost had to dive under and take it out. You should have seen when we got it on the lift and turned it back on to flush the water out, weeds were shooting out of there.

thats the good thing living on the ocean nobody cuts the weeds in mississippi but there is the whole dead body under your boat from katrina

Not only do I highly dislike pontune boats I also hate jet boats. :D

I have a Larson SEi-180 LX - with about $2,000 worth of extras on it.

It's not really the prop on my boat it's the engine.  Brand New Volvo Penta 3.0 liter V-6 Cylender 135hp Stern Drive with about 12 hours on it. :)

I can get you makes and models of the prop tomarow but all I can tell you is that it looks like this (http://www.go2marine.com/docs/1/0/0/4/100421F-p.jpg) and it doesn't have a scratch on it.

Hate jet boats :O

They are the best, no feet cutting devices at the stern.

Still my dual yamaha high output engines.

P.S. I am going to say my boat because it is easier then saying my uncles boat. :p

you have a 125 hp engine i have a 250 Hp mercruiser 4.9 liter V-8 and you go faster.  I think your boat weighs less then mine

You cant cut limbs on mine i have a extended swimmers platform.  but if you cut a limb off its your flalt and im not bringing you back too shore.    the not bringing you back to shore part was what one of the captains i meet saying

and the reason i dont like jet boat are they arent the fastest
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Agent|Austin on August 10, 2008, 08:11:07
Not the fastest, but low matenience. We have a swimmers ladder. :D
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Capt. Le Velle on August 10, 2008, 08:16:11
stern drives are low matenience too and i have a swimmers ladder too

On the very back right of the boat the thing that looks like a hatch is the ladder that goes down 2 feet when fully extended

As you may have seen in my videos, my small boat (which I have now sold) did about 55 kts (could go faster but Solent is rarely smooth enough). That was a duo-prop (Volvo Penta Z drive system).

My new boat has twin 360 HP V8 Volvo Penta drives of the same configuration (Its a 27 ft Sunseeker Monteray). Will be trying it out this week if the weather improves (windy, cold and wet at the moment - British Summer)

lol yea, but i'm happy with my boat. On our lake there is soooo many pontoon boats, it must make up like 40% of the boats i see. Its crazy :o
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: llamalord on August 10, 2008, 15:32:50
I never go to the lake on the weekends because it's too busy and that's when all the law breakers come out. (There's never any coast guard patrol there) I love just going to the ramp without my boat and watching all the stupid stuff that goes on. It's really funny to see all the noobs wreck their boats. :D  Yesterday I was watching the water and in the 20min I was there the coast guard could have made $6,800. ::)
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Master Captain on August 10, 2008, 15:37:06
we don't go on the weekends either because the lake would be jammed packed.  But on our last launch someone was next to us and we were launching they got their boat off first and a kid was hold a rope to pull it over to the dock, well as the boat went off the trailer the rope snaped and it went adrift. It ended up behind our boat so i couldn't go anywhere, also i had to watch for the rope, don't want that in the prop. But somehow it drifted over to the dock, he was one lucky kid. :P

Before anyone is in my boat it weighs slightly over 3,000 lbs.
and it's a 135hp not a 125hp. :P

How mush does your boat weigh? looks to me like...  ...5,800 lbs, Just a guess. :-\

I'm sorry I said that the full gear weight with no passengers was 3,000 lbs.  I meant it's empty weith is just under 3,000 lbs and it's full gear(No passengers) weight is about 4,000 lbs. or about two times the weight of the SUV that tows it. :D

oh and today i put my boat in and i used my truck but you know how you have to slam on the brakes a little bit to the the boat off.  When i did that i forgot how steep the grade was and i almost ended up the in river. The truck slide down the ramp and the whole back was underwater
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: llamalord on August 11, 2008, 04:56:51
Hmm... My dad unhooks the boat and shoves it off the nose of the trailer and then I back it out of the loading area and then come back to pick every one up at the dock.

And yes I took the Coast guard coarse and got my licence.  49/50 on the test. (any less than five wrong and you fail in Massauchusetts and get no second chance.) ;)
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Capt. Le Velle on August 11, 2008, 05:00:32
Im not able to push my boat of the trailer thats why i slam on my brakes.  It was very slick on the boat launch so my truck slide when i had to pull the boat back up. When i upgrade my engine i cant tow anything with it
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: llamalord on August 11, 2008, 05:03:38
We can't push the boat off either, As I said I have to use the boats engine to get it off the bunks. Don't worry about getting stuck in the mud after running the prop the ramp is concrete all the way out.

we tow with an '05 GMC Envoy. Heres a pic http://www.berkshireforsale.com/listingImages/2344_2005_GMC_ENVOY_1.jpg (http://www.berkshireforsale.com/listingImages/2344_2005_GMC_ENVOY_1.jpg) Ours just doesn't have a bug shield or running boards, plus some other accesories that makes it "unique"  ;D

That's impossible 250s are half tons 150s are quarter tons. Even with steel would not add another two tons.

Post by: llamalord on August 11, 2008, 19:57:29
I thought my truck looked like it weighed a little bit more with the full cabin in the rear. :-\
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Capt. Le Velle on August 11, 2008, 21:50:00
my truck isnt stock
and the quarter ton is how much i can carry.  The little ford focus is about 2000. And my truck is a quarter ton for hauling
Title: Re: Very bad day
Post by: Capt. Le Velle on August 11, 2008, 21:51:07
if your truck weighted a quarter ton you will not be able to tow anything
